Uh turn on the news. Basically the worst natural disaster to hit a major populated area in the US. I don't think destruction has been seen this bad in the US since the 1906 earthquake that pretty much leveled San Francsico.

With power out for up to a month or two, it may be a while until we hear anything.

that's terrible! But I am from Canada. I saw BBC news this morning, they didn't show much damaged/hard hit areas but they interviewed a guy with his two young children who lost his wife and home. That was really sad, even the news lady was crying.
 
Sorry if this is uncalled but why do you guys assumes that if a member stops posting is because something happened to him?, I mean his location is still unknow maybe he realized that posting was a waste of time (nothing against GAF just a theory)

Ahh shit, that's not good. Let's hope at the very worst his house got flooded and someone rescued him (and I would assume his family since he's young, right?)
 
I believe he lives in or around Baton Rouge, so I'm sure he is ok and I hope this is true, just without power and/or internet.

80% of New Orleans is under water

They will be without electricity for about a month

There is a large danger of contamination of food

In one apt. building, ~30 people were killed instantly

Looting (with gunfire) is running rampant in LA and Mississppi

Estimated $25B in damage sofar

All oil production in LA is now useless and oil is now ~$70/barrel and rising

Snakes (not the solid kind) and other dangerous critters are coming out of the woodworks

Mass starvation and disease are a very real concern especially for those in NO

It is already the #1 biggest natural disaster(moneywise) to hit a major US city and the water is *still* rising!!

This storm is gonna hurt us all in one way or another. Here in PA we will be getting lots of rain, wind, and storms. And throughout the country we will all feel the pain at the pump. Of course, nothing compares to what people in LA and surrounding areas are going through at this very moment.

This is a really sad day. :(
 
Oh shit, I hope he's all right. You have to remember, only a very few people die in things like this, compared to a number of those who survive. Chance for actually dying is a lot smaller than what you'd say by looking at various disaster reports.

SSX was my insperation to make my avatars animated :). I really hope he's ok, and i didn't realize how bad this storm hit the US until i saw all the news coverage today and felt the aftermath here in Ohio.
