Is there a way to record sound from your sound card to the hard drive?

Stereo cable from the line out to the line in and sound recorder? Why do you need to do this? There's probably a better way.

i want to record music from the Flash file i linked to. Seems like there would be a program that has a driver that outputs the sound to the hard drive versus to an actual sound card, like you can do in Winamp.

download "All Sound Recorder" - it records from the sound card. It's not free but it is shareware so helpfully that works for you.

also what's your sound card? With Audigy 2 you can set the record device to What U Hear, which I think is the sound coming out of the sound card

IIRC, it's a 5.1 Live! card. i also have an Audigy, but it won't work with my PC anymore for some reason. i do remember the "What You Hear" option, so i'll try installing the official drivers and see if that option is available for the lower card.

All Sound Recorder used to be really great.
Then I foolishly updated it to the XP version and can't switch back :S
Haven't found a mirror of the old version :(
