Is there any advantage in using a LAN cable over a cross-over cable?

Right now, I've got two PCs and an Xbox hooked up to my router via cross-over cables, and they're all working like a charm.

Another plus is that I can directly connect two PCs with a cross-over cable.

Is there something I'm missing, or is there no reason for regular LAN cables?

Some routers have the ability to "auto cross-over" in the event that you'd like to use a cross-over cable as a regular straight through. That's what your router is doing.

All there is to a crossover cable is that the in and out lines are swapped to emulate the way things work with a hub in the middle, there's no other difference.
