that's true, Sony really can do things are their own pace, but a blow like that would definitely be something that MS wouldn't be able to recover from. especially not with their current line up.

it would be a disaster for MS that i don't think they'd be able to recover from.

they'd lose their "edge", and well, clearly don't have quite the same uh....line up of games that Sony and Nintendo are guarenteed to have.

that's the word on the street. anyone else hear anything about it? i just found out about it a few hours ago. it's from the new source, but like i said, considering we've heard a lot of the same stuff, im gonna take his word for it.

Haha, E3 will do that to ya. I've got class during Sony's press conference. I at last wish I had a laptop, or WipeOut pure so I could follow the board during it (boring ass movie will be shown).

Which is not to say that Halo may necessarily meet the same fate as some other faded brands. Like everyone else at Microsoft at this stage, Moore is thoroughly cagey about what's coming next from Bungie. It's been rumored that Halo 3 might drop as a counter to Sony's next hardware launch -- to that, Moore simply says, "The worst thing we could do is say we must ship Halo 3 when the PS3 ships."

"Halo 3 will ship when Halo 3 is of a magnitude of quality that the Halo nation will not string us up from the flagpole outside," he continues. "It's bigger than simply being a blunt instrument to take on PS3. Say the PS3 launch is in November, then you say Halo 3 is coming in the spring of 2007? Here's what it's like: people will wait."

Being a magnitude of quality better than Halo 2 would not be a difficult thing, IMO.
Just make a good SP and they'd be halfway there.

No way that PS3 will be out this year.

From what i've heard. They GPU isn't even finalised yet.

It's going to be a least summer 2006 if not later.

Sony announced the PSP in 2003 and it is not even out in Europe 2 years later.

If they announce the ps3 (they will), it will not be for this year.
 
One thing about this silence from Sony, it's fucking ominous, six months ago, if you had told me that Nintendo would be more forthcoming than Sony about their next-gen plans pre-E3 I would have laughed at you.


Then again, six months ago I couldn't have imagined the name XBox 360 or that the console would have The Wall Guy as its mascot...
