Is there any way to get a Logitech and Microsoft mouse to co-exist on the same PC?

I have a laptop at work, and have been using a Microsoft optical mouse at my docking station since I had 2-3 sitting around unused. However, for travel, I bought a small Logitech RF wireless mouse since I was sick of lugging around a corded full-size mouse in my bag.

However, the Logitech Mouseware software disabled a lot of the Microsoft mouse functionality (couldn't change scroll wheel scroll size or change button assignments). Although I uninstalled Mouseware for now to solve the problem, having to uninstall/install mouse software every time I take a trip is a non-starter.

Any ideas on solutions? Is it possible to run either of the mice without the corresponding software?
