Is this guy trying to scam me (college text book related)?

I sold one of my text books on Half.com a couple of weeks ago. After the auction was over the buyer e-mailed me urging me to ship the book to him. Well, I shipped it a few days later (maybe four days after he ordered the book).

About a week and a half after i shipped the book I get an e-mail from the guy saying that he had moved and thus his address listed on Half.com was outdated, and that if I had shipped the book to that address he would not get it. He claims to have sent me an e-mail with the new shipping address weeks ago, but as far as I'm concerned this is total bs, as I am sure I never got any e-mail from him.

Is the guy up to something? Can I tell the guy that it's his problem that he didn't update his shipping address, and that he can kiss my ass? I did insure the package before I sent it, so that should protect me from something, right?

Its his responsibility to make sure that his information is correct. If he hadn't updated it and you still sent the package to his old address, then that's completely his fault. Don't let him try and twist it around to make it seem like you're the one at fault.

It's his responsibility to keep his info up to date. Plus, if he has moved house or whatever, the people now living at his old place will very likely have the decency to forward his mail on to him. It happens all the time when people move house (that mail keeps turning up at the old place) - he'll likely have other mail he needs at his old place too, so he can either arrange to have it forwarded, or go back and pick it up. This has nothing to do with you - you sent it to the address you were given, right?

I appreciate the replies fellas. It's good to know I'm free of any responsibility.

I'm not sure if you got my email when I originally purchased the item. The mailing address has changed, so I sent you an email telling you the new address to send it to. If you did not recieve that email I'm sure the package has been sent but I won't get it.

*this e-mail has not actually been sent.

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
I used to have a small used book business online with a friend and this sort of thing happens a lot. I wouldn't worry about it, especially with Half.com. If you did the best you could to send it out in good faith it's really his deal. Doesn't he have address forwarding? This comes up a lot more with idiots buying books for school (not getting it for a multitude of shady reasons because they no longer need/want the text).
