Is this Paul Tassi guy's one and only job to create FUD around Marathon?

Like what the fuck is his problem? What kind of website is Forbes these days?

It's his job to pull everything out of his ass because he has no actual inside information. I'm fact he knows less than multiple people on the board.

The worst part is the morons on this board still post his contributor articles and attribute them to Forbes. As if theyre legitimate.

It's no different than insert Twitch or YouTube streamer, TBH.

Forbes will let pretty much anyone write whatever. It's a good place for garden variety forum fanboys to test their mettle before they become the next jezz or ryan or whoever.

It's Paul Tassi. His job is to make sure Forbes doesn't acually lose money in paying him to cover games. And like it or not, Marathon is the biggest question mark in gaming right now. So this tracks.

Paul Tassi sucks...but are we pretending Marathon is great or even in a "good" place? It's the absolute example of trend-chasing mid slop.

I get being annoyed by the noise of social media, but the attempts to deflect criticism with it must just be rage-bait or grifting are pointless.

Enough of these games that get trashed, deserve it because they look bad. The response from the audience isn't mind-controlled to them, and Bungie refused to address feedback that's been around for a while.

Bungie should consider themselves lucky to even still be hated by enough people, because the next step if they don't improve is apathy.

I typically only hear "FUD" used by people on the losing side of an issue. Can't tell you how many posts by Crypto scammers or deluded followers decrying FUD whenever someone questioned the narrative

Marathon isn't looking good. From the controversies to the lukewarm reception it's gotten from players so far.. I don't find Paul to be off base here. It needs radical changes, and there's not enough time to develop those changes before launch.. so it's over before it started.

He's literally just a freelancer who gets Forbes masthead because no actual editors there give a shit about games.

I don't know why we take him seriously, and I've been saying this for years.

I mean, are people actually excited for Marathon?
Lol I don't think, only a tiny tiny niche crowd.

I been a pvp guy since wolfenstein, thousands of hours in every shooter from then on up thru doom, Duke, battlefield, Halo, destiny... On and on... And I personally find extraction shooters not even remotely worth the time but that's just me

If they gave marathon a 6v6 mode, or some other arena modes I might try it but as a 3v3 extraction I have nothin for it

Tassi is a big GaaS looter shooter guy. Huge Destiny fan for a long time, so it makes sense he'd be writing about Marathon a lot. I don't like him very much, but I love all the negative press Marathon is getting.

Jack Nicholson Yes GIF

Who the fuck uses the word FUD exept tarded cryptobros and stocknazis? Whatever, this Youtuber or not this game and pungi is fucked and its well deserved!

It would be a bit like paying a guy to piss into an ocean of piss. Other than a few diehard Bungie fans no one has anything nice to say about Marathon.

His job is to generate clicks and talk around his work. Congrats, you got played.

This. If he's continuing to write on this topic, it's because his initial article performed well. There's a lucrative schadenfreude market to be farmed here, just as there was for Concord.

You can see it in how many threads about Marathon there are on this forum and how many posts all of them have. The only thing gamers love more than a hype cycle is a death spiral.

I am Sick of this GaaS shit.

It is a lackluster product and they stole art from artist? Pile of shit that deserves to flop.

Afaik, Tassi was a big Bungie fan and Destiny apologizer. Which just shows that the worst enemies you can have are the ones you create yourself.

Player engagement during the beta test showed everything there is to see. Nobody will waste their time playing a microtransaction store with the Bungie logo on the box.
It was actually an alpha, a vertical slice of the game and in nowhere near final. Is it going to ship and be wildly different? Who knows, but this pile on for what was essentially a few months old build is somewhat ridiculous. Let's wait for the final product before losing our collective shit.

When a quality game launches in alpha or beta, people will stick to it for as long as possible. Let's just say that this was the extreme opposite, kinda like Anthem.

And on a side note, why the fuck would they release an Alpha so close to launch lul? Bungie is so incredibly fucked, i don't think they get it.

I honestly feel like that's more telling than anything else.

Other than that, he's a journalist, doing journalist things. He's not standing out more or less than so many others. It just comes with the territory.

My new meta is watching all of the hateboners who call out ragebaiters instead of calling out the toxic corpo zombie industry that has ruined my favorite entertainment medium. If even half of the crap swirling around Marathon is true, a company spent $4B to acquire a studio to make them billions more except that that isn't how video games work, nor is it how they should work, but so few people seem to care about that anymore. But here we are, calling out online article authors because they are the REAL problem.

I enjoy this meta where people "hate this person so much" yet make threads about them.
Just gives them more exposure and more clicks, regardless if it's negative it's a form of engagement. But I get the feeling that some people already know this and are using it for exactly that effect.

This, so much this. Its good to know though that this dosent change the fact that bungie and most of all Marathon is screwed anyway.

But some people are blind and or just dumb, and that is sad.

Confirmation Bias.

They hate so much but they need other people to agree with their hate too.

Its also the reason DF threads are full of people who hate DF.
Just mute their topics or manually ignore them.

Same people who hate DF unironically also cite DF when it suits their narrative.
