[Is this real???] New law in San Francisco makes shoplifting products under $950 is a no-arresting misdemeanor.

Shit in the street, do heroin on the corner and shop lift to your hearts content...San Francisco is wild.

Imagine paying $4500 a month in rent for the privilege to watch this

I kind of understand, that Mericans cannot have universal health care, because living in such expensive city would probably means, that people would hurt themselves, so they could sleep over night in the hospital.

Imagine building a business over many years and then your officials make this law and all you could do is just standby and watch people strolling into your store and clear the shelves, unable to to ring the police to seek prosecution. Fuck that! I would just close up my store and move to another city. SF is going to shit and the wealth will leave eventually.

People actually do this. There IS 'free' healthcare in the US, if you dont bother to pay your bill, and the homeless for example use this quite often.

But San Fran shouldn't have this issue, they have an extensive shelter system in place, located near where all these displaced folks congregate, right?.....right?

This can't be real can it???

Reminds me of somethings they do in NYC.

Trying to lower everything to misdemeanors or not enforcing law at all, so people aren't getting throw in jail for low level crimes.
Which, in some cases is actually good.... but $950?

SF and NYC are becoming a lot alike.

Imagine have such a shitty people who do this. We have Gypsies and at least they steal from tourist and abuse wellfare, they don't do shit like this. And Gypsies are the lowest of the low. It's not a race, ethinicity, it's a fucking culture of money-grabbing human trash. and still not as bad as this.

Read in the comments section it's not a new law. Was passed in 2014 and done by Kamala Harris.
This one?

And sorry about that, did not know when that happened, just saw that. It does not matter, when it happened, to be honest.

And how does that work? So if you pay normally, you get charged for you and some homeless before you?

Gypsy's are scum we have them over here in the UK and when they are around Crime spikes and when they leave the area there is a huge trash pile left behind leaving the local authority's to clean up.

I like how they stop arresting or prosecuting people for committing crimes, then claim crime is down.

Worked in a hospital for a while. Every six or so months some gypsies would come in to the ER, a whole crew. They'd have one person admitted for something inane like a stubbed toe and while he was in there the rest of them would scatter and steal everything they could - toilet paper, napkins, plastic utensils, even stuff other patients/visitors left unattended in waiting areas.

Saw this happen multiple times while working there. Security was always on alert when they came through but there were always so many of these people.

This, though, this shit is awful. I imagine business owners started locking stuff up and then people cried "racism?"

Exactly. ou nailed it.

"Video footage of suspects robbing and assaulting woman at entryway. Suspects at large, if you have seen this man, call Crimestoppers"

fuckin everyday, wonder why no one ever gets caught and charged?

Boston's lunatic DA has a similar policy

It's not a law here, though. Actually in my view it's worse because in our case the DA is simply declining to prosecute a list of what she calls 'minor' offenses, including trespassing and shoplifting, directly against the laws on the books

you done fucked up san francisco. can't even beat the shit out these thieves without getting arrested while defending your own property?

Judges don't want to be wrapped up in shoplifting crimes, other crimes are more valuable to them, the easy answer to this is don't steal.

It makes sense to me. By not arresting them they shit on the sidewalk. But if you arrest them, they might shit in the cruiser or on a jail cell floor. Ain't nobody got time to clean that shit.

imagine if/when medicare 4 all is free and you san francisco citzen had to share the same space with these same thieves at the hospital while waiting to get your doctor consultation. and yes there are high chances that you can recognize the thieves.

and yes. you'll be paying for that too through your taxes.

Any SF gaffers want to help me upgrade my PC? I'll pay your Uber trip to the store, post office and back, no sense in paying more since you can get anything for free anyway.

They voted for it, so they probably like it.

There's crimes across the US that typically don't result in arrest, but you still get in "trouble" and have consequences.

not sure what the freak out is here 🤷‍♂️

Judges don't want to enforce private property rights? Judges don't want to maintain law and order? We are talking "pillars of western civilization" stuff here. Sounds like we need some new judges.

Yea, obviously the easy answer is don't steal. But people do. Then what? The obvious answer used to be to punish people for stealing, but that's not considered acceptable in 2020.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with what we're seeing in that video.

The store will re-stock everything, someone else can come in and fill up garbage bags of stolen merchandise, and the cycle will repeat! This is how things should be done in our society.

ok. in that shopilifting situation what's the consequences?

for me it's a win-win situation... for the thief

Go look at courtrooms, are theft issues not 99% of the crimes? I doubt Judges wanna see that shit.
