Is This The GOAT Collection?

Here's a picture of my PC Gaming Collection from 2008.

Many of these franchises went on to becoming major hits.

GOAT collection?

In terms of historical significance in modern gaming, yes.

That copy of Shadowrun is triggering me. The fact that MS used that property to make an online shooter is just depressing.

I think it was one of the first cross play games ever, PC vs 360.
Yep not only a terrible (perhaps the most terrible of all time) use of an IP, but also the harbinger of GFWL.
MS were really making all the wrong moves on PC at that time.

Greatest ever? No. But it is cool. Needs huge box Diablo 2 and BG2.
No boxed BG II from me though :( Just the first game, and sadly box is gone. Only have the sleeve of 500 install CDs it came with. And these discs.. I made the mistake of loaning this game to my cousin and they came back all messed up :(. I have a second, standard box copy of Diablo II but it's my CE discs that got all scratched up.

Gut reaction was no but while typing out my response and looking at the image, there's some fantastic stuff pictured: Unreal Anthology, Quake, Sins of a Solar Empire, Shadowrun, Gears, CS.

So now I don't know. The lack of Kojima hurts my soul but regardless, great collection.

What a time!

Nope. I see no Half-Life or Half-Life 2. In fact, there are many amazing PC games from this list. Far too many to list here.

C&C 3 is okay, but not the best in the series and not for historical significance.

Allied Assault was better than Airborne and the best MoH game to date.

Spore? HellGate? LOL

I could go on.

Not a bad list, but far, far from the GOAT.

Edit DownLikeBCPowder DownLikeBCPowder Now, that is a list of real PC classics.

I mean it's not the worst I have seen but there also some fucking duds: Hellgate: London, Shadowrun, Tabula Rasa, BioShock and Diablo III (in the background there).

FEAR for example has gunplay unmatched in terms of intensity, and visceral it can get.

The collection I posted is a mix of new (at the time) and classics.

Obviously, not every game is there but a good majority are.

I can't see it? Is it only me?

"Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to i.postimg.cc because this website requires a secure connection.""i.postimg.cc uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed."

I can't believe I tried so hard to see your collection lol.

Christ, I forgot all about Tabula Rasa, what a fuckin mess. Garriott's absolute unraveling and fall from grace is one of gaming's biggest letdowns.
Being around for Ultima was something else. Each game continued to get better and better till it culminated in the amazing (and flawed) Ultima VII. Then the franchise, and Garriott, fell into a death spiral that they never recovered from.

Not even close, only Mass Effect, Command and Conquer, Counter Strike, Fear, and Unreal Tournament are good there.
You never had a PC capable of playing the games, I listed.

PC gaming was not cheap back then, so I understand.

Battlefield 2142 is legitimately one of the best Battlefield games ever made.

It's a legitimate PC game, not the multiplatform game it is now.

Solid collection my dude. Your tastes line up with mine pretty much 1:1 at that time period. I too am an Unreal Tournament enjoyer, no shade at Quake 3, that's great too, but UT has always been my jam.

I don't know how a any collection from that generation could be considered "GOAT"
Its the GOAT when you consider how this led to the modern gaming you and a lot of people love, today.

These were the big hitters, that made it happen.

Obviously some games are missing, but a majority are in the pic.

I don't like first person shooters.

Didn't like them then.

Don't like them now.

Most of those franchises are dead, many forgotten.
This is the GOAT Collection for the modern gamer who overwhelmingly love, these types of games.

Most companies making games now, even your indie favorites won't be around 10 years from now, let alone 20 years.

Only if you like FPS games

If you don't then it's shite.

Sorry, you asked us, don't get pissy when we disagree.
