Is This Thing On? movie with Will Arnett lead and story, with Bradley Cooper directing.

Looks interesting, this thread will be pretty dead though, we all ask for original movies but never actually go see them 🥴

Looks good. This is the one inspired by the life of the comedian John Bishop, right?

I didn't like Maestro as much as I hoped and part of that was it seemed like Cooper was very much aiming for an Oscar.

Hollywood is obsessed with making nihilistic garbage.

You either get super hero slop or depression slop.

Pick your poison.
Oh so you'll be seeing Caught Stealing then?

or Nobody 2?

or The Roses?

or Weapons?

or Honey Don't?

Or would you prefer to just come to NeoGAF and complain about Marvel and DC movies ruining the industry as that's all Hollywood makes now?

Now these are my type of movies! Mid budget, original IP. Now let me put on my glasses here...

Two nihilistic feminine coded movies.
A nihilistic horror movie.
A John Wick cookie cutter sequel.
A feminine coded, modern audience chase movie.

If this is the cream of Hollywood's crop, I'm not interested.

Where are you even getting some of these? Where the hell does Caught Stealing fit into these? The ironic part about Nobody 2 is that they took the criticism of it being a John Wick clone and made the sequel more focus on him being a family man and getting this stuff done around his vacation with the family. "Nihilistic Horror Movie" which is also one of the best rated horror movies in years and if you want a more fun style horror movie we just had Final Destination Bloodlines earlier this year! Honey Don't! is a damn Ethan Coen movie too, like what the hell are you after?

How about Roofman?

Or is that woke coded feminist propaganda?

Formula 1?

Or is that too over dramatic Oscar bait?

When all you complain about is Marvel slop, and then turn down recommendations that's not comic book crap, can you give me a bit of an idea of what you're after, I genuinely want to put forward current movies that get overlooked since all people do is focus on Marvel, DC, etc.

I can only be honest with you how I interpret the trailers you've posted. It's perfectly acceptable if you don't view these the same way I do.

The Roofman trailer starts out with Channing Tatum roller skating in a Toys R Us with short shorts on. That's chick aesthetic.

Not for me.

Formula 1 is giant corporation propaganda. It was created to generate money for the growing sport of F1. It's one big commercial.

Again, not for me.

Nobody 2 might have gone in a completely different direction, but how was I to know? I couldn't stand any of the John Wick superhero movies so the John Wick inspired copycats automatically went in the same bin for me. Hollywood doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. It's too easy (and effective) to hit PASS.

The last movie I enjoyed was The Rainmaker with Matt Damon. It was a good v evil tale with an intelligent, competent, aspirational male protagonist. Hollywood isn't interested in that formula anymore.

I genuinely appreciate you trying as these are honestly the class of movie I've traditionally been into.

Just to check, when you say the last movie you enjoyed, do you mean the last one you happened to watch or the last new one you enjoyed? I assume the former but drawing the line at 1997 would be a fun bit.

Lol, no I saw it for the first time last week. There have been some good movies released after 1997.
