Is Xbox Game Pass Premium overlooked?

With people complaining about the Ultimate pricing, is Game Pass Premium being overlooked? Game Pass Premium is Microsoft's middle tier Game Pass service and it includes Xbox Live online multiplayer, over 200 games (Diablo, Crash Bandicoot, Minecraft, Forza Horizon, Hollow Knight, COD Modern Warfare 3 and more), and unlimited access to XCloud, which is by far the most user friendly and comprehensive cloud streaming service I have ever used.

And it's just $15 a month.

In fact, I would say it's a better deal than Microsoft's initial 2017 Game Pass $9.99 offering, which is insane considering inflation. Is it overlooked solely due to the fact it doesn't include day one games?

Like all these services its basically a scam.

The offer is 200 games to play when the reality is that most subscribers will not play more than a couple of titles in any given month.

This is what they are banking on.

$14.99 a month isn't great, but not offensively bad. It would be an amazing deal if it had a yearly price of $99 and they bundled it with discounted XSS and XSX

Which is basically the total opposite of what they actually are doing.

What do you mean? It's $14.99 a month + use your existing hardware. With conversion i'm sure you can get a cheaper yearly price too. You can engage with Xbox without ever owning an Xbox console. Imagine if Nintendo allowed you to play Mario Kart World on your old laptop.

Nobody gives a flying fuck about this. Cloud gaming works only in ideal scenarios. Its OK in a pinch with a reliable connection, but nobody is buying this to just stream games.

That has been proven over and over.

I don't need temporary access to 200 games, it just doesn't fit how I play them.

For those who play several new games a month these sub services might work, but then again they include just a fraction of what is released in and given month.

So it's just not worth it for everybody.

Gaming is not like music or movies / tv shows for most people. They don't need it even want that much variety because starting a new a video game is a much bigger commitment of time and mental energy. They'd rather choose a few games a year and learn them and play them.

If you do that with Gamepass you've just spent the same amount of money as if ton just bought a few games and you didn't get to choose the games.

Stealth port begging for PS5 games on Xbox the other day.

????

Nintendo games on other platforms is the true prize here.

The reaction to Game Pass Ultimate on Xbox consoles has been so positive that it actively cannibalised full game software sales. I don't think people actually prefer buying games over subscription services at all.

While that's a fair point, the counterpoint is the Xbox install base has continued to shrink. Most gamers are not on Xbox using GamePass to play games. This strategy was intended to attract a massive scale of gamers and it failed at that.

It's also been a lot cheaper than $15 for an unknown amount of people most of the generation.

Beyond that games not on GamePass still sell decently relative to the consoles market share.

The answer is simple: Take a cursory look at the games list on premuim/ultimate, see which/how many pique your interest, and do some napkin math to see if it would be more cost effective for you, knowing that if its not an Xbox/MS game then it may leave gamepass at some point. Most people here are trolling or on that anti-xbox schadenfreude, but honestly its a really good service.

Sub services only work for me when I temporarily use them. I have 5 months of extra and it's enough time for me to beat what I want to play then I'll drop down to essential.

Silksong, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, Hades 2, Minishoot Adventures, Will of the Wisps, Unsighted, Nine Sols, Bo Path of the Teal Lotus, BioGun and the list goes on and on
brother if you are buying an Xbox for those games alone, then money is clearly not an issue. Who tf spends 600 on a console to play 30/40 indie game when you can get it on any mid level pc?

But sure, the exception to the mainstream 99.99 games - sure its 12 - $30 games that tickle your fancy.

How many of these astroturfer posts do you have to make to get a free month of Game Pass Premium.?

-10 points for failing to include "thousand of dollars of value" in your posts.
