It doesnt matter which console wins, enjoy the games they provide

I've always leaned more towards PlayStation, however I have owned an Xbox each cycle eventually, although I probably wont this time around due to MS's PC support. This leads me on to my point, with MS not trumping Sony's dominance last gen, or going in to this gen. Do you think we would have seen programs such as Enhanced Backwards Compatibility, Smart Delivery or the big one GamePass? I don't think we would, and I feel that Xbox's platform centric approach rather than banking purely on hardware and games is the correct way to go, and should it really take off I don't think Sony could compete in their current state, yes they have a few games on PC, but that isn't enough at this time. Again, this is if Xbox was to take off. I think Sony really need to react, especially when it comes to GamePass.

I haven't argued a consoles superiority since telling my classmates that SNES was better than Megadrive in the early 90s.

But I'm going to come out of retirement just for this thread. To all those who said that Ouya was the future. Where are you now? I don't see you posting anymore.
Too busy gaming.

I don't think there is a "correct way to go" in either case They each have their own strategy. Right now, from what have seen this generation both companies are striving to make the best games their studios can make. The real difference here is how they monetize. Considering how the entire gaming industry is struggling to keep up with demand I don't think either strategy to monetize is going to be a problem. Both PS and Xbox are "taking off" in a big way right now.

Agreed.

But I do have this controversial opinion that if games were better we wouldn't even be here on forums like this. I think circumstances around games (drama) has sadly become more interesting than captivating game experiences themselves. Not to say you can't find a few diamonds today, but man do I remember better days; days where it wasn't endless sequels, prequels, reboots, remasters, and remakes. The well is dry.

It does. When sony wasn't winning with the PS3 early on so many good games didn't come to my platform. When my platform is dominant it gets all the 3rd party goodies.

Just because certain games doesn't come to your preferred platform isn't the end of the world. It's actually better for you. I want as many game developers to succeed as possible because that means more games for everyone on every console.

Who has got time for this many games.

I play one system 3-4 yrs then get next one, brand depends on what I really want to play.

Whichever system I have, I fanboy for that. Or not, depending on the mood.

I enjoy playing the games on the console of my choice. The enjoyment is even greater knowing the competition is losing... the war

I've owned every console within the first year of them releasing, most launch day, bar Xbox one. I also invest in a good pc.
….I agree with the OPs message.

ever console and company brings something unique to the table…..…..then PC is just *chefs kiss*. hats off to those rocking apex legends on console but I need to be KB & mouse basically tongue slapping a monitor at 165hz to compete.

It doesn't matter if you are Playstation, Xbox, Pc, or Nintendo person. Enjoy what they provide for you.

To me, Playstation is for single player games. Xbox is for online and rpg games, Nintendo for Nintendo games. Pc for modding and fps games. That is how I treat mine.

It doesn't matter how much sales they do, that is not our business. We are just consumers. It doesn't effect our games.

No one cares how much these consoles sell. We are just wasting our time.

That is my rant, thank you.

Was this not you in the past 6 months? Good to know you are now on the road to Damascus.

That was aimed at metacritic.

They hold too much weight these days, which affects people's habbit of buying games.

Its wasn't console thing at all.

We are led to believe higher score games are better. And when you get stats like that, you wonder whether the game is good or not.

Is anyone above the age of 13 actually a console warrior tho? I mean I get having a preference - but I doubt full grown adults really care. I like the companies trying to one up another and trying to make a better product but aside from that… we're talking large corporations here
You should ask coleeastwood and TimDog about that and there's more on both sides that are too many to list here. Despite what the general gaming community does, there will always be console warriors on either side playing a game of Shill & White Knight for their favourite corporation and plastic box. That won't ever change and I'm not sure it ever will. Console Warriors will always be console warriors.

What about single player first person RPGs with shooting (like Skyrim magic/bow)???

If all the systems are selling 40 million and over then there shouldn't be any worries of failing or not getting games. After that point there isn't any reasons to really care how much they sell other than fanboy chest thumping crap.
