Itagaki>All (Proof inside)

great great interview.

i'd probably buy this even if it was 50 bucks. i'm just dying to try the staff weapon on a more normal difficulty level. sounds like they're adding a lot of extra's too that go beyond what was included in the hurricane packs...

one of the most replayable games EVER, mainly because of the AI... if they've beefed it up even more it will just be cool as hell.

the ninja dog comments are hilarious.

yes.

and the fact that itagaki didnt out right diss dmc3 proves that it rules.

It's a good thing Itagaki gave the DMC3 producer a pep talk so he could create his awesomeness. You should be thanking Itagaki for helping make DMC3 the decent game it is!

Don't give Itagaki too much credits...

Well, I missed the first NG. However, I don't think I'll miss the new one. If NG would just go down in price I'd probably buy it. However, is NGB the same game with some upgrades? I honestly don't know.

And yes, DMC3 is one hard game...

NGB will also be sold at a discounted price. :D

He hates on RE4 for the same reason as me too!

Personally I think he's full of shit.

1UP: What did you think of Biohazard 4 (Resident Evil 4)?

TI: That looked really fun on the surface, but when I actually played it I was surprised. Why does the guy have to stop and stand there every time he wants to shoot his pistol? I just don't get it. Now, if they made it so that he could shoot much more accurately when stopped, that would be one thing. They must not have ever fired a real gun. It's not true to reality. Even if I were to take reality out of the equation, I still can't get myself worked up over a game where the fundamental game mechanic just doesn't feel right.

1UP: Please clarify.

TI: You know, in reality no one stops to shoot. It makes no sense to me that you'd stop. You shoot while you're in motion. Of course when you stop you can be more accurate, but it's not realistic. I got tired of it after the second level; it got boring to me. Some of your readers may say "Well, in Ninja Gaiden you use a bow and arrow while moving" but in real life you don't use a bow and arrow while in motion, but with guns you. If you like sniper games, it's ok to stop.

Somehow I don't think so. You shoot when you're not moving. Maybe he's never fired a real gun himself is what I am thinking. Sure, you might fire your weapon while you are moving in certain situations, but if you want to be able to hit shit, you stop moving your feet.

Regardless, the mechanic worked in RE4.

That's right. In other words, there are some people who want to beat the game, even if it means being reduced to the level of a dog; people who are not afraid to shame themselves to accomplish their goals. Sometimes in life, that type of style is necessary. Anyone who can think like that can still be a real man. The Ninja Dog difficulty setting is for men like that. So don't give up too easily!

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

:lol! Itagaki rocks! I can't wait for NG Black.

And yawn@ people dwelling on his RE4 comments. No one said anything about firing during a full on sprint. But I'm sure people advance, strafe, backtrack etc. albeit slowly, while firing to get to cover (or whatever the reason) in *gasp* real life.

If you liked RE4 before, you'll still like it after his comments. Stop being so defensive.

I like how he's getting with the program about naming the lowest difficulty something embarassing. Like the "Child" and "Monkey" difficulties in Psikyo shooters... :lol

Well, DOA isn't really a vf clone, it's a dumbed down, streamlined fighter that is designed to be "pick up and playable". That's what I've always considered it to be.

And Ninja Gaiden is most certainly NOT a DMC clone. While I'd put DMC3 and NG about equal (the mechanics of how each works are far too different to really say one is better), NG absolutely smacked the living shit out of DMC1. That and it wasn't even really similar at all. They were both predominately action games, and they were both hard. Comparison ends there.

Besides, Ninja Gaiden was in development before DMC was released I beleive, so it'd be kinda tough to "pre-clone" it, as they would have to for what you said to be true.

If Itagaki doesn't flat out diss a game, that means he loves it really.

Oh and, uh

DMC3 >> Ninja Gaiden

Join the club, and yes--this reality the one that we all live in.

Damn weaksauce gamers, if you thought DMC3 was too hard why the hell are you going to even bother with Ninja Gaiden "MASTER NINJA?"

What I do find funny is his ego. A mere "prep" talk by Itagaki created Devil May Cry 3.

I wonder how crater face would react when you ask why DOA: Ultimate hasn't broken 100,000 units in sales since release? :lol :lol :lol :lol

Give me Ninja Gaiden 2 and stop doing dumbass interviews. :D

I've seen a lot of comparisons between God of War and Ninja Gaiden, I was really curious as to what Itagaki's thoughts on that game were...

god of war its a better game than ng ( at least for me)

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

1up: "So what are your on thoughts about God of War?"

Itagaki: "Oh, that shallow, casual, cursory, short, and extremely mindless and easy action game"....it's aite.

God of Button Mash sucks ass dude. DMC3 and NG are about 500x's better than that casual shit.

I personally like both NG and DMC3 much better than GOW because they both have incredible combat systems, but GOW has some pretty good action combined with a sense of adventure and atmosphere that neither NG nor DMC3 can touch. Ultimately, deciding which game is best would depend entirely on personal taste.

TI: [laughs] That's nonsense. Impossible. How could a dog become a Master Ninja?

:lol

I was watching Kill Bill Vol. 2 last night and that sounds just like something Pai Mei would say.

Guy is full of shit. He made two sub-par series and he talks like that.

And making games hard doesn't necessarily make it hardcore.

Entertaining. But full of shit!

Think about it; you will have to fight an enemy version of Ryu Hayabusa

See, I didn't know about this. Now I'm mentally spooging. No god in this universe will stop me from getting Ninja Gaiden Black. Nothing, no one, never.

Itagaki is cool I guess. He plays Pikmin 2, and thinks he could outdo Nintendo with the franchise. :lol I can forgive his arrogance when I play games like Ninja Gaiden. Ninja Gaiden Black is MINE on day one.

Spoken like someone who has no idea how to play Ninja Gaiden properly.

Ninja Gaiden isn't hard. It's just relentless. Skilled players (not me) can bat down enemies and laugh. The trick is not being scared of your enemies, and of course knowing how to use your reflexes to evade.

Ninja Gaiden is by far my favorite game of this generation. And Itagaki, wherever he goes, I'll be there as long as he keeps making Ninja Gaiden games. DOA I could care less.

I finished Ninja Gaiden on normal in 25 hours. Certain parts of the game were difficult, but the experience itself was pretty darn fun. Itagaki is the funniest SOB in gaming right now, he just says the most outrageous shit on a regular basis. It's really funny stuff.

I think Im more of a fan of Itagaki's interviews than I am of his games. :)

I wanted to like Ninja Gaiden real bad but I thought the save/continue system was kinda broken. Id spend five-ten minutes plowing through a bunch of bad ass ninjas only to get stomped by a mini-boss whose attack pattern would take me 5 or 6 tries to figure out. But instead of letting you continue at the boss you had to repeat another 5 minutes of hacking your way past enemies you already proved you could own to get there. That sucked and I quit like the Ninja Dog that I am. I think I got to Alma but lost patience and interest at repeating shit over and over pretty quickly at that point. Anyone else have that experience? Maybe I should give it another shot.

And its not that I dont dig a challenging game. I was psycho enough to unlock every track in F-Zero GX and beat half of the story mode on Very Hard. I have the solidified blood clot to prove it. NG never got the hooks in though.

I'm stuck on the 2nd to last level forever now. I have to fight my way up this castle/tower, with a boss fight at the end. By the time I get to the boss, I've run out of health items and proceed to get owned :(

I've played quite a few of hard games in my life but Ninja Gaiden while preety good is not only hard but also TEDIOUS. Hell, I don't mind if it's hard AND FUN. But hey, if you finished it, that makes you hardcore I guess. Hardcore suckers LOLOLOXlolXOXOZZ
