Italy Priest Sanctioned for Blaming Children for Pedophilia

The Catholic Church in northern Italy's Trento region has sanctioned a priest who said pedophilia in the church was caused by children seeking the affection of priests.

The Trento archdioceses said in a statement it had removed the Rev. Gino Flaim from all pastoral work and forbidden him from preaching after an interview was aired on the La7 private network Tuesday evening.

In the comments, Flaim said he had worked in schools and understood children. "Unfortunately, there are children who seek out affection because they don't get any at home. And it can be that maybe they find some priests. And I understand this," he said.

On the other hand, he said he couldn't understand the "sickness" of homosexuality.

The archdiocese said it "fully disassociated itself" from Flaim's words.

Good on the church that they removed him, but how many more with these kind of perverted views are out there?

Here I'll paraphrase this:

"Some children have less-than-ideal to downright bad home lives and seek help, and I find that incredibly sexy."

This guy has got shit reversed. He calls homosexuality a sickness which it isn't but paedophilia itself is a mental illness. Paedophilia is not the same as child molestation, paedophilia is the attraction to prebuscent children, it's a diagnosed illness. You cannot go to prison in any sane country for having these feelings or thoughts, it's when you act upon them (child pornography, molestation, etc) is the illegal part. People should be encouraged who have these attractions/feelings to see a therapist/psychologist since they do exist and can help, some people live healthy lives with these attractions/thoughts and don't act on them. It's a shame society has shunned away and made it an immediate thought crime where it's proven to be an mental illness that needs help, like many mental illnesses.

Blaming children for attention? Of course kids want attention, you don't give it to them sexually...
