Britney Spears has announced that she is carrying a baby boy.

The Sun reports that she announced her child's gender on a recent Los Angeles shopping trip during which she gathered $11,000-worth (£6,000) of baby accessories.

Although a name has not yet been chosen, Britney and husband Kevin Federline are said to be considering 'Preston'.

She'd better be careful. There was a story here recently in Atlanta where a couple had their baby gender tested. I forget the sex of the baby so let's just say they were told that it would be a boy. So they spent tons of money on boy baby accessories and painting the room blue and all of that. Then the baby was born and it turned out to be a girl...

But Britney is richer than that couple so I guess she could eat the cost if the one in a million chance of the doctors being wrong came to pass on her baby.
