For my entire 29th year my sister referred to my age as 30-1. So that was pretty much ruined for me as well lol.

Turning 30 next year. I'm in the best shape of my life, my career is doing well and my wife is going to be graduating next year with a great degree.
Personally I'm embracing my 30s. I feel like my 20s were great, but I was trying to prove myself and figure out who I was. As I approach 30 I'm very comfortable with who I am and what I get to do in life and my career. Bring it.

Your 30's are great. That's when you learn to start letting go of all your anger and more judgmental tendencies you developed in your teens and 20's. You also will (hopefully) start earning decent money, but even if you don't, you'll get to a place where you're more appreciative of what you do have than what you don't have.

You sound like a friendly and polite young man. Here is my advice.
Party your ass off, do tons of drugs and sleep with as many people as possible. Fuck planning for the future, I'm basically dead now. The only thing I regret is not doing more!
really though, get school out of the way as soon as you can then travel for the for as many years as you can before you feel the need to settle down. I only say get it out of the way because going back late in the game is kind of a bummer.
