Full-Length Trailer

When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.

In theaters December 21st.

Looks extremely generic.

Also let me be the first in here to make the Bourne comparison: It looks like a Bourne movie.

the best thing about the trailer was the scene in the and with the cappie guy. i guess this will also be the best thing about the whole movie.

just kidding. tom cruise is a hero! and i'm sure even this movie will rock because of him! we need more tom cruise!

It's a Tom cruise action movie. It will be entertaining and I will see it. Just like every other Tom cruise action movie

Not exactly astounding. Having read what Jack Reacher is meant to be - fiercely intelligent but also large and physically imposing; wish fulfilment made flesh - I'd have given the role to someone like Tom Hardy, much as I like teeny tiny Tom Cruise. Could still be decent, though I won't be holding my breath.

I'm surprised to see so many dismissals here. Werner Herzog is a great director and I can't see him bothering to make a run of the mill action movie.

Something about the poster does look a little weird though.

Edit: oh wait he's just acting in it? Not directing? Strange

He's just the villain, not director. The dude that wrote Usual Suspects and directed The Way of the Gun helmed this.

Cruise gonna cruise.

Looks like a pretty generic action movie, the sort Statham churns out on a monthly basis.

Seriously. Jack Reacher is supposed to be scarred, and not handsome in a classical way. His size is supposed to intimidate passers-by on the sidewalk. How did Tom Cruise get this? Tom Hardy is a good call, if only due to the Bane comparison.

Surprised to see Herzog associated with this as I've read a few JR books and they are fairly trashy stuff! Decent reads though.

You can tell they even made him look taller for the movie.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY Tom Cruise? He is so wrong.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Oh. Not sure if want anymore. I was thinking it was Herzogs take on a Bourne/Taken action flic or something like Bad Lieutenant.

Well... if its good, I will watch. Could be a solid action movie.

Tom Hardy isn't much higher than Cruise. One of the reasons so manu people thought he would make terrible Bane when he was cast.

Anyway, I liked that trailer. It's not reacher I know from novels, but seems like a badass movie on it's own.

I'm having trouble thinking of any actor who would really fit reacher. Ray Stephenson is the closest, but I doubt he would be able to get into shape required for this role. Jared Padalecki has the height and body type, but he's too young.

I'll watch this based purely on the fact that I read One Shot and im intrigued in how they handle it, even if I didnt like it very much

fucking stupid movie name as well. Dont know why they wouldnt just name it after the book.

Jack Reacher, John Carter.. be a bit more creative

Hardy, despite only being three inches taller, has pulled off roles which have asked for him to be physically imposing - Warrior, The Dark Knight Rises, Bronson.

The Ususal Suspects was good, and Way of the Gun had some good moments (the beginning of the film especially). However, I don't, and never have, bought Tom Cruise as an action hero...it just doesn't sit well with me. There's other actors I've felt that about (Matt Damon, Ryan Gosling to name a few) that managed to pull it off and change my mind...Cruise hasn't.

Lol, Tom Hardy is 5'9". Sort of a strange name to toss out for Jack Reacher if you're complaining about Cruise's size.

Lol...in Poland the movie is actually titled Jack Reacher: Jednym Strzałem ("Jednym Strzałem" is "One Shot"). A rare case when polish title is actually superior to the original. Most of the time local distributors create real monstricities.

Even in Collateral?

Jack Reacher has to be one of the most well known contemporary literary characters. To modern audiences John Carter is the guy from ER, if anything, and not the hero of a hundred year old series of scientifiction.

Even in Collateral?

Yeah, I was just watching this again a couple of days ago. He certainly was physically imposing in that movie. His overall demeanor made him seem bigger in stature even.

JR, in the books, always seemed a brooding, scarred man. Not a wannabee male model with designer stubble.

Looks generic. :/

For me, Joel Edgerton should have been JR, although he is a little short.
