Jade Empire Sequel Confirmed

So, was your post a joke, selective reading, or no reading at all? :D

it was a joke- remember egm's rumor?

Yeah, I saw this a couple of days ago, but I thought it was already posted here.

Good news. Hopefully they make the gameplay more worthwhile.

hopefully is not as boring as the first one.

Yeah. It wasn't even as good as KOTOR II (though I loved both).

Just felt very... rushed. It didn't suck, but it felt pretty rushed.

I enjoyed it, as well. Just that the combat system could have had more to it, the camera could have been better-handled, and the progress in the story could have been less linear. All things that can be addressed in a next-gen sequel.

I hope they improve the combat system, but I doubt they will. All RPG developers seem to think that real time combat has to be ridiculously easy and shallow in order to appeal to a mass audience.

I loved Jade Empire, and a sequel may push an xbox 360 purchase into the "must buy" category for me. But yes, a deeper combat system would rock, Shaolin Monks anyone?

Was I the only one who enjoyed Jade Empire? Sure it could have been better, but I still liked it a whole lot.

I'm in the same boat. It wasn't a gameplay masterpiece (shallow), was too linear, short (chapters 4 through the end were way too abrupt compared to the pace established before them) and overrun w/ loading. It has too many earmarks of being rushed. However, it nailed the atmosphere it was trying to convey and the story/dialog was very well done and fun, which made the game a winner for me.

If they make the gameplay better, cut down the loading time and pace the sequel better, it will be excellent.

I enjoyed it for what it was but, it definitely could have been much better. To be flat out as far as RPGs on the Xbox go, I'd pick Fable, KOTOR, and KOTOR II over Jade Empire. I got it for like $35 from Fry's but..Idk I was just disapointed.

Wasn't worth full price, but it wasn't that bad either. I think it was because the whole game was just so cohesive, because each part is kinda bad when looked at individually...I have high hopes for the sequel anyway.

Wasn´t this confirmed from the very first moment the first game arrived? I mean, isn´t confirmed that every single game with a reasonable success gets a sequel? Yet we all go around asking for more v_v

The EGM Bioware making PS3 games rumor was denounced a while ago considering Bioware themselves said they were working on nothing but PC and XBOX360 games. Something like 4 or 5 games all together. If they are working on all of those games, they won't have time for the PS3.

It was just an okay/good game. Not bad, not great. A lot of boring parts and the battle system wasn't that good.

IGN's 9.9 for this game has to be the most ridiculous score for a game ever.

I want more character development, and i want to learn new (more complex) moves as i level up the styles.

Also better hit detection/animation, better enemy AI, some actual digital acting and camera work in the dialog.

Most of all i want more John Cleese blowing the crap out of "savages" with a giant musket.

Doesn't MS own the IP, anyway?

Personally, this is one of the few games I still need to pick up before I'm done with original Xbox games. I've seen a lot of lacklustre impressions, but even if it's essentially KOTOR in another universe, that is quite alright for me.

Is JE2 going to cost 49.99 or 59.99 this time around?

I still can't believe that the same company that made Baldur's Gate II made Jade Empire.

JE was what us PC snobs call "kiddie-console-crap". And really, it is. Which is a shame because KotOR proved Bioware can make console RPG's without dumbing it down (a whole lot).

Here's hoping JE II is much improved.

P.S. Maybe they can hire Team Ninja to do the fighting system. Imagine a Ninja Gaiden-type game with a KotOR-style story. That would rock.

Nah. The romantic sub-plot possibilites alone make it worthwhile.

I wouldn't mind a spinoff featuring the Black Whirlwind myself. Another thing I hope they change is the alignment system, since everything you do in the game (alignment wise) is pointless when compared to your two final choices at the end.
