As one of the more celebrated PC strategy games, the Jagged Alliance series is fondly remembered by many gamers. Game Factory Interactive hopes to bring that feeling into the third dimension, having now announced Jagged Alliance 3D.

Jagged Alliance 3D takes place on the western coast of Africa, and an arms race has intensified regional conflict and struggle. Players take control of a described "Che Gevara" of the present, working to bring a revolution in the region and overthrow the current regime. Over about 20 missions, you'll work to accomplish that goal.

Players will have control of up to six different characters simultaneously. Over time, mission completions will not only produce funding for future equipment and missions, but increase experience and abilities of the current team. Between missions, mercenaries can be hired or fired, ammunition and equipment purchased and players can choose which mission to embark on next.

Only a single screen shot from Jagged Alliance 3D is available. No release date has been announced.

Oh God, please be good, please be good, please be good. Jagged Alliance 2 is one of my favorite games. Silent Storm looked like a reasonable 3d successor to it but it sort of lacked something. If they can fully realize JA2 in 3d and it runs well on my machine, I won't have to upgrade for years! :D

This is good news. Silent Storm had some good and unique ideas for 3D strategy games, hopefully JA3D improved upon those good things to be even better than it's predecessors.

After JA 3D they'll release a JA 3, and Fallout is getting another sequel from Bethesda.
edit: well considering Troika is no more, Bethesda sounds like a much better developer now.

It took like 3 hours to finish the second damn mission in Silent Storm is what was wrong with it. I got bored at the 2 hour mark and started rushing through the last bit of the map and started dying. Uninstalled the game after.

Obisidian would be better, they have the writing chops (of course they would have to be given more than a damn year to make the game, LucasArts screwed 'em). Bethseda.. man, they just aint a narrative kinda developer.

I <=3 JA2. Probably my favorite turn-based strategy game ever.

I will set expectations to "low."
