Note: I'm no good at official threads here on NeoGAF but as I, and probably many others, are passionate about James Bond, I thought this British icon deserved its own OT. And so here it is, and if someone else want to do graphics or add information, feel free to contact me, so that I can edit it in here. I kindly ask for help, to improve the OT. I first and foremost wanted a place, where we could discuss all things James Bond. Thank you for your understanding.

James Bond is a 007 agent working for MI6 under the supervision of M, who's assistant Moneypenney, James often flirts with. Q is the man behind all of his gadgets, cars and weapons. Bond is the ladies' man and thus the so called "Bond babes" are a vital part of the formular which MGM have utilized since 1962. They finally shook it up with Daniel Craig's first movie, Casino Royale. Only soon to go back to basics with Skyfall. Six British actors has dressed up as the agent so far, including Sir Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. They have each their era, and represents their own generation, while making Bond their own. The 24th and latest James Bond film, has shaken, not stirred the community by its mediocrity. It has had a mixed reception in the official thread for Spectre, and thus we hope the producers soon realize, why Casino Royale were so revered. Other OT threads here on GAF include the Skyfall OT. The franchise has seen 24 installments, from Dr. No to On Her Majesty's Secret Service to The Spy Who Loved Me to The Living Daylights to Goldeneye and Casino Royale. James Bond is not just about the films though. You can find the classic books by Ian Flemming, while the series continues on with the latest release Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz. You can also find perfumes, collector's cars, soundtracks, video games and miscellaneous stuff around the world.

So they will change the actor for the next movie .... but for we know what is the best actor we need to know WHICH STORY will they adapt ... and since they had some russia with love references, so why not Goldfinger next ?

And I think a Jane Bond fits perfectly with Goldfinger because it would create a new tension with Pussy Galore.

So I vote for Cate Blanchett or Tilda Swinton for James Bond. Clara Delavigne plays Pussy Galore.

edit : also, reshooting some flashback with an actress instead of an actor will make it sure that the "james bond is a codename" theory is dead for good =P

New James Bond would be good, can't think of anyone certain but just one piece of the puzzle. The stories need to better and the formula can't keep recycling. Might not be what people want from James Bond, the producers certainly don't seem interested so people should seek something else but I'm really tired of the films now. Casino Royale is still James Bond but doesn't replicate the formula in an obvious way and is my favourite Craig Bond by a long way, very good film as well. They need to shake up the women in Bond again, lets not keep turning the clocks back.

Frankly, the producers don't care why Casino Royale is so critically revered because SkyFall made the most bank, so they brought in the same hokey direction and plotting as SkyFall. They want to repeat SkyFall, not Casino Royale sadly

Seydoux' dress was the greatest thing about Spectre. Piece of art. I'm pretty sure Craig will do one last Bond. I'm looking forward to a new direction - which hurts me to say, seeing as I think his first two entries are among the best in the series and pure joy to watch.

I agree with this. I were very skeptical of Lea Seydoux when they first announced her casting, but she was absolutely stunning as Madeleine Swann. Best Bond girl since Olga Kurylenko as Camille Montes.

I agree with this. I were very skeptical of Lea Seydoux when they first announced her casting, but she was absolutely stunning as Madeleine Swann. Best Bond girl since Olga Kurylenko as Camille Montes.

No chance. The massive overseas box office numbers say otherwise. Spectres opening weekend in China is the biggest 2D opening ever and nearly beat Skyfalls entire run in one weekend.

EON isn't stupid. They are not going to rock the boat after this for no reason. Craig is without a doubt going to be back for one more.

Not sure Mendes contributed anything of significance. Other than Thomas Newman meh'ing up the soundtrack.

Well she's one of the it actresses of the world right now. Only wish she got more to work with. Imagine if this movie had as well developed relationships as CR.

Got some writing to do, but I'll probably watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service tonight if time allows.

I still haven't seen Spectre, probably will get around to it later this week or next...I'm not filled with hope based off the reviews, but at least I'll be going in with low expectations. I did actually read Trigger Mortis a few weeks ago, fun and easy read. The press releases made it sound a bit silly, but Horowitz did an excellent job with putting some more modern sensibilities in a classic Bond setting.

I think Swann is just going to ditch Bond or be put on hold off-screen when Bond finds out leaving the head of SPECTRE and that organization alive was a mistake. I just desperately hope that the story is far less comic book villain than Mendes' two entries. Casino Royale and the stock market players was way fucking cool because it didn't sound like ridiculous revenge personal drama with booby traps set over 20 years like Mendes' seems desperate to attract for his entries.

I thought SkyFall had a meh score but I actually liked the playful opera inspired cues in SPECTRE.

Nice to see there is a bit of Bond love on Gaf. I just watched Spectre and didn't love it, but that opening was something special I think.

Interested to see where they go next after the ending, guess all will be revealed in 3 years or so.

I would like to recommend the James Bonding podcast over at Nerdist, its a fun podcast with Matt Gourley and Matt Mira, they have just done their Spectre episode so I dont expect their will be any updates for a while, but they have gone through the whole series and their love of the franchise is palpable and infectious.

I actually watched an episode of that podcast last week and I enjoyed it a lot^

Anyway a few weeks ago I wanted to start watching all of the James Bond movies from the very beginning, since i have only seen the Brosnan and Craig movies.

Ended up watching Dr. No and while it moved pretty slowly during the middle of it, I enjoyed it.

Just finished The Spy Who Loved Me. It is the best Bond that Roger Moore have made of those I have seen so far. Mind you, I haven't seen For Your Eyes Only. Barbara Bach also gotta be one of my favorite Bond girls, she just needed more to do. A little more gun action from her would be sweet.

I liked the ending, music theme, actors and plot. Also the locations. I'm not the biggest fan of Jaws but he were funny at parts, and it was a great touch when James Bond used the magnet to throw him to the sharks. Quite incredible how he killed that shark, looked good.

There was a lack of gadgets and the third act dragged a little with the whole rescue on the boat but other than that, this gotta be up there among the better Bond movies.

Awesome. I know the latest installments been getting a lot of hate, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely far from the worst bond films.

I've always loved how The Spy Who Loved Me is the film that best captures the James Bond tropes. If someone ever comes up to me saying they've never watched a Bond film and don't know if they'd like them, I would point to that one as the one to watch.

Exactly my thoughts too. It's so much more memorable than the Craig films, even Casino Royale.

Spectre is by no means one of the worst Bond films. It is actually enjoyable and had some few memorable moments.

I also think The Spy Who Loved Me is very memorable but personally speaking, the one Bond film I'll says remember best is Quantum of Solace. Though I wouldn't recommend it to someone new getting into Bond.

I wonder how they felt back in the day. When they got Diamonds Are Forever and then Live and Let Die. Also movies like Moonraker.

You have Christopher fucking Lee as your villain, and his big gimmick is...that he has three nipples?!

Moonraker does get a bad rep, but I think it has a lot going for it. Michael Lonsdale as Drax is a fantastic villain and the two of them have some great dialogue between them. Yes, the final battle is way over-the-top, even for Bond, but the model work is actually very well done.

My favorite bond movie of all time is and will forever be Goldeneye.

And that swedish godess Izabella Scorupco, and Famke Janssen of course, with those killer thighs.

I really gotta rewatch The Living Daylights. Because I currently have License to Kill as my favorite James Bond. And I only really started to get into all of the films back in 2012.

Better opus by Bond's greatest conductor.
More balanced plot.
Classic Bond with a twist.

Best Bond.


LTK tried to be too edgy to a point for its time.

They should do a proper adaptation of The Man with The Golden Gun novel with Daniel Craig. The novel is quite brutal, it would fit him.

TLD is great. Wasn't as hot on LTK, though, and I absolutely love Goldeneye as-is so I'm not too broken up over Dalton not getting a third movie.

The real tragedy is spending 12 years and 7 movies on Roger Moore.

I liked Spectre. It wasn't amazing like Casino Royale or Skyfall but it wasn't confusing like Quantum of Solace on its first watch. Spectre always had a comic book feel to it, so the movie being a little "comic booky" wasn't a big issue to me. I felt like a lot of the action scenes lacked that final punch though. The helicopter, plane and escape scenes really lacked the Craig reboot final punch. Hardly any lasting impact. I need to watch it again but I have a feeling it'll be a great movie to rewatch, unlike Skyfall.

I do hope Craig comes back for one more, but with Sony possibly losing the license, Craig's recent comments, the internet outrage for a Black Bond, I'm pretty insecure about that possibility. I feel like they should end Seadoux and give us an excellent final Craig entry. I really don't care who comes in next after that, as long as its true to the whole idea of being a spy, brutal fight scenes, sexy women, martinis, fast cars, sick guns, beautiful locations and being well shot. Also I would prefer the next actor being able to hold that role for at least a decade, like Craig, Moore and Connery were able to. Therefore someone in the late 30s by shooting time, likely around 2020-2022.

Huge fan and have been since the mid 90's. My favorite Bond movie is kind of tough to choose between Goldfinger and Casino Royale. Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond and biggest crush.:p
