James Bond: Blood Stone |OT| 00-fficial 7hread

This is a little late since I finished this last week and have move on to fable 3, but I wanted to say something on it anyway.

I felt like Bloodstone was a very good rental. Everything about it is competent and nothing feels broken. The shooting and cover mechanics work very well and I love how you can basically hold a button to move around the corners in cover. Graphics are very nice and the frame rate (on 360) feels very smooth (like dead space for me).The Bond license is fine and all of the series cast providing the voices is a great plus. Story is serviceable but nothing great

The driving sections are essentially the 'set pieces' of the game and they are very nice. Definitely deserve a special mention.

However, in the graphics department the face models are a huge letdown. The driving has a trail and error part but I never had to redo one more than three times or so. The game play, while fine, drags a bit near the end.

So, the game is a great rental. Plus, I got a few more hours out of it because the multi player was fun, if forgettable. Got me in the Bond mood and I ended up searching out Goldeneye today for the Wii.

Well I finished it today (3 days) and thought it was a nice game. Nothing memorable, but I must admit, it did drag on a bit.

Still worth my time so that's ok :)

Just got done with the
siberian ice chase (giantbomb lol)
and fuck is this fantastic! :D

Easily becoming my favorite Bond game ever!

bad gameplay lol
So apparently my local video store is selling off a copy of this for $10. Kinda surprising since it's relatively new. Think I might pick it up. Gonna check out some gameplay videos first.

So Gamestop has both Quantum of Solace & Blood Stone on sale for $10 each. Either one worth it? Which one is better?

I've only played Blood Stone, I don't think you could go wrong with it for 10, but I still think worthy only of a rental.

blood stone is fun, especially the multiplayer...single player is an uncharted rip off,but that's not a bad thing

sadly both are very short (4-5 hours),so get both :p

I thought Blood Stone was significantly better and it's definitely worth 10$.

Rented it, got to what I thought was going to be the end (some ice chase boss fight thing) and then when I realized it was going to keep going I stopped playing. It was generally competent but I don't even think it's worth finishing.

Birbo has it wrong. Goldeneye Wii is $10 along with Blood Stone. Not Quantum.

I thought that may be the case. I looked at the GameStop ad and didn't see Quantum of Solace in there.

That part is only like, an hour and a half into the game, and you thought you were at the end? The whole game itself is like 6-7 hours long.

Anyway, I picked this game up not too long ago (by accident, no less), and I think it was pretty solid. Straightforward as fuck, but solid.

Picked this up today for $9.99 at GameStop. Played the first few levels. Not too enthused thus far. I'm kind of having a bad day though so maybe that's part of it.

That said, I know people were under the impression that the Quantum of Solace game was on sale for $9.99 as well. Well, it isn't but used copies are $9.99 at GameStop every day so...If you don't mind used games, you can indeed get Quantum of Solace for $10.

This game is ok. Action is really so-so; not bad or anything, just dull. I feel like the Goldeneye Wii game spoiled me because it had a similar shooter/stealth game hybrid and did it so well. Blood Stone stealth feels like Alpha Protocol. The shooting feels good enough, but it's just enemies flooding out of doors. And as a huge fan of Bizarre's racing games, it's disappointing as even the driving sequences aren't great.

I must sound negative. I kinda sorta enjoyed the brief single player campaign. It had nice moments and locations to play around in. The gameplay was unremarkable but again, it didn't really detract from the experience.

My favorite parts about the game are the melee takedown animations. It's satisfying to watch Bond use his fist to give some baddie a concussion.

Also, I remember seeing early footage of a Raven made Bond game. I wonder what happened to that.

I love Craig's Bond, but I gotta tell ya... he's like... sleep-walking here. Doesn't feel like he's putting in much of an effort in the voice work. Then again, it's not emotionally involving like CR and QoS were, I suppose. The shooting is okay. I really like the melee stuff, I find myself running to do a badass kill move like those instead of shooting, though melee and chain focus shots I like. Car chase sequences are okay, albeit a bit frustrating.

Yeah it's not the best. It's pretty clear Bizarre had plans to do a sequel involving the mystery organization at the end but alas that won't be happening.

Yeah hurt the overall appeal of the game for me.

Especially when word got out that they were going out of business.

The game has definitely got better since the beginning. I wasn't impressed early on but I'm coming around. That said, this game does it's best to take everything it does straight out of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Like literally. Bond driving a construction vehicle, flying a plane and crashing it, the on foot chase scene...Everything. Whether that's a good or bad thing I don't know.

Like most people I'll agree that the driving sections are definitely pretty bad...

I actually kind of liked the driving, even though there was a lot of trial and error. The car chase scene with
the dump truck
was pretty amazing to me.

I think I liked both this and Goldeneye about the same. Last year was a good year for Bond games.

So, my first ever published review is now out in the @Gamer magazine (Best Buy's gaming mag) and it is a 100 word mini review of Blood Stone. If you have, or see, the magazine check it out!

Why is Best Buy reviewing year old games?

They aren't. It's a reader review thing and I saw them ask for short reviews when I had just finished Blood Stone after picking it up for $10.

I got this for $5 from Best Buy. I played the first mission. Really enjoyed it. It's very cohesive in terms of how it links the pieces of each mission together.

It definitely felt like a modern Bond adventure which is exactly what I wanted. But why didn't anybody tell me ended on a cliffhanger that rivals that of Halo 2? I was only playing for the story and adventure; the gameplay, mechanics and visuals pale in comparison to other third person shooters. After investing so much time into something for that to be the pay-off was a massive kick to the teeth. I'm guessing the chances of a sequel is slim to none, what a pity.

Not actually that important
How's the PC port of this? I was put off by Edge's review of the game but I want to give it a chance just to play the last game Bizarre made.

I think this kinda rocks. I mean, it's supppper lazy, but it feels really nice and you do feel like Bond. And the music and graphics are nice. And anything with Judi Dench is +1.

Great except for the lack of 360 button prompts when using a 360 pad. The game looks great at 1080p + 60 fps, especially the car chases.

My biggest problem with it is where the obvious budget cuts (or whatever) occurred. The biggest giveaways where were Bond would leave one scene in a car with a fully detailed interior and exterior and arrive at another scene in the same manor, but in a way that was painfully obvious that there should've been a driving sequence but (I guess) nothing environmental was modelled. Also, Craig's acting was horrible. Maybe he's like that in most voice-acting roles, but he did a decent job in Tintin.
