Just saw the THQ news. I loved deBlob 2, Saints Row 3 and Space Marine last yeat, but I will accept them dying as a sacrifice to fix my wrasslin' games

Thanks a lot. I would have never guessed. I'm asking who do you think will save wrasslin games?

I haven't a clue who else makes wrasslin games man.

Aki's dead isn't it?

Ohhhh Yukes makes the games. THQ is just a publisher, that explains it.

Well yukes will keep making the same ol' game.

They're still alive, their name is Syn Sophia now. They have said that they would love to make another wrestling game again, but they need the backing for it. Here's to hoping!

No, they're alive, they have a different name now but they still make games in Japan as usual.

I don't know if they have any wrestling licences any more.

I've always maintained that it's either WWE or THQ input that ruins the WWE games. Yuke's Wrestle Kingdom I & II games are both excellent, and WKII was only 5 years ago.

well here's hoping the new publisher doesn't fuck things up if Bootaaay says those games are good.

If not we're doomed to E-Fed with a ridiculous game that sorta looks like last years.

by the way guys, I've got some good news.

I want us to try to e-fed through the awesomeness that is Fire pro wrestling returns, I want to see how that goes seeing as how expansive in customization it is.

I just checked it out, assuming I looked at the right game it seemed to lean in the direction of the AKI games.
Coming to think of it Yukes made the Gamecube WWE games as well which were pretty good aside from X8. Maybe THQ were indeed the toxic touch upon the recent WWE games.

DAY OF RECKONING 3!

That is awesome news!

Sega should by the WWE licence, and get Sports Interactive to do Wrestling Manager 2013. I would buy the shit out of that.

My favorite is still the games developed by AKI. How I'm still waiting for them to develop a new WWE wrestling game.

Yeah DoR series isi fucking fun, I was playing it for fun like X8 but unlike X8 I didn't want to stop.

The only problem with the Fire Pro Wrestling returns game is that is' Too Customizable, it's almost overwhelming and my mind goes into a clusterfuck trying to create things.

Considering the sheer profanity my brother spews when playing Football manager I'm not sure I could trust myself with this, i'd be ranting about the low ratings of my show or something.
Seriously though I loved the barebones GM mode in SD vs Raw 2006, it's an interesting idea at any rate.

DAY OF RECKONING 3!
I would mark out to the point of injury. I'd mark out further to the point of death if AKI/Syn Sophia got to expand upon No Mercy

EA were supposed to be looking for the WWE licence when THQ were having problems with it a few years back. If they get it, EA will either take it to an internal studio - or maybe buy THQ San Diego (WWE All Stars) and rebrand them as a EA studio. No way AKI is getting involved if EA get the licence - and to be honest don't see the licence going anywhere else.

I've never played Fire Pro Wrestling. Obviously heard nothing but praise.

Is it the customization that makes it so good?

I'm a little uncertain as to how well a 2D wrestling game can work. I know there's the arcade style ones from the SNES days, and all, but it sees like 2D would limit how far a wrestling game can go?

500 CAW slots, a huge list of moves to choose from. Also the gameplay whether you sim or play is very close to a sim in the fact that you can't do big moves off the start of the match. You do small moves and strikes to weaken your opponent enough to start doing bigger moves.
Also you can really give each wrestler a personality if you learn how to edit their logic in matches. Which is really in depth. It's fun.

This is always a popular vid to go to if you haven't seen much of FPR:

Sounds good for the computer controlled matches we have.

Though if it's that insane for customization, it seems like a lot to have one guy do all of our CAWs in full?

Oh, man -- if EA got the license? ;)

Fire Pro Wrestling is by far my favorite wrestling game. Those who have never played likely won't get into it (it's super old-school), but back in the day, this game was the shit.

it's going to be a pain in the ass, I remember attempting one CAW a while back and it took nothing short of forever.

Customizing is awesome though, I saw someone remaking the 1990's survivor series completely

You can only play if you have an Origin account. :p

atleast the Origin servers are up most of the time......

Is related THQ/wrestling news, Rob Van Dam was a voice in Saints Row 3 and I old noticed after 15 hours. he does the announcing for the japanese game show but I didnt notice until after doing maybe 10 of those missions AND the wrestling match mission.

It took a while before I figured out who Hogan was voicing as well.... basically until his character started doing Hogan poses.

Saints Row the Third. the second best wrestling game THQ have made this generation. (all stars is 1th)

If EA picks up the WWE license.............please, for the love of all that is holy, do not use any form of the WCW Mayhem/Backstage Assault engine.

if EA did pick it up I would guess they would use the Fight Night / EA MMA tech.

actually what ever happened to the EA MMA team? if they are still around it might be something they could do since EA...... actually they might just pick up the UFC licence. lol

But can we all just agree now that no matter who buys what.... Yukes should die.

Amazingly enough, both WCW Mayhem and Backstage Assault had better commentary than any of the Smackdown vs. Raw games.

At least that aspect of the game will probably be improved if it goes to EA.

Yeah I noticed that too. The commentary feels more natural in that one clip than in any time I've watched WWE '12.

Yeah that surprised me, commentary is top notch.

If only I could replace WWE '12's with that. Fuck you Cole and King, I want Bobby the Brain

Just read the news that THQ is dead. I really hope EA gets the WWE license. EA is tops in presentation on their sports games and I would love to see it get away from Yuke's.

I didnt know Yukes owned a bunch of new japan.

actually I think Yukes is independent from THQ and they just use THQ's WWE licence.

So if THQ dies Yukes could live on making shitty games for another publisher!!!!

I didn't see the exact spot where he got injured, but it could have been any number of spots. The match certainly seemed a bit off and there were more than a few blown spots, so it could easily have happened early on in the match and I just missed it.

Hope Gargano's OK though, as he really looked badly shaken after the match, just lying there on the mat until some help managed to gingerly lift him from the ring. I thought it was his leg at first and they were just waiting for a stretcher, but once he got to his feet on the floor he was really badly favouring his right arm, so I thought it could've been his shoulder, but the fact that it's being reported as a back injury leads me to believe he caught a nasty stinger.

Actually, thinking about it, he could've been hurt when Ricochet hit a springboard DDT on the apron, but Gargano didn't land on his head as Ricochet's momentum flipped him all the way round and on to his back, then Ricochet followed up with a Death Valley Driver on the apron that looked pretty nasty.

Could this be the first mayor victim of the current apron craze on the indies?

Hopefully this will limit apron moves since they look really dangerous.

Hopefully this is the end of the Smackdown series and Yukes developing the games. THQ San Diego did a great job with All Stars, I hope another Dev gets the chance to make a WWE game. Hopefully a competent one.

I hope so, as regardless of the danger they're becoming really overused.

I've always hated those moves done on the apron.

High risk, little reward.

Especially as the more people use them, the more it becomes less of an impressive spot. It was super noticeable on the last ROH iPPV, pretty much every match had at least one head/back bump move on the apron.
