Anyone pick up and try Tamagotchi yet? I wouldn't care about it if not for the fact that it's by Masaya Matsuura's NanaOn-Sha, but that fact alone rockets it to nearly the top of my most-wanted list.

Dig Dug didn't even make the top 20. :(

Can we please go back to having all the daily charts for the week in one thread instead of having a new thread for each day?

Seriously, I expected much bigger numbers for WE9. I figured it was the only way to cut into DS sales, but it wasn't even higher than the highest DS title.

Aehm, Tamagotchi > WE9 PSP, great(and perhaps even the two Phoenix Wrights combined sold more than WE9 PSP)!

Edit: I'm sorry, but it's great... it's the week where PSP probably has the only chance this year to do a major turnover, but... the new DS titles are higher than the new PSP titles(and one of the PSP titles is WINNING ELEVEN!).

I can't believe WE9 numbers

We9 + FFVII adv children + white PSP was supposed to kill everything

wtf ?????

GB Micro for teh win ?

Pretty much yeah.

Edit: Also, I didn't even notice it before, but releasing SRT in the same week as the Micro is probably the most brilliant move this year outside of Nintendogs and Brain Training. What better way to have your game sell :P

Japan's infatuation with with regurgitated, overpriced, mediocre, hack-n-slash mission packs makes me cry. :(
Hey, I'll cry about that too, but my original weeping still stands. A Tamagotchi game should never outsell a Winning Eleven game on any platform ever in the history of the universe, as should games based on brain training excersizes never outsell any other game based on anything ever created by humans. :'(

fyi :'(

So, where's AniHawk? I want him to tell everyone that WE9+White PSP will give it the JPN victory. :lol
Maybe all the WE9's were sold to new White PSP owners? :D

It's obvious that's the exact opposite of what happened while my scenario is completely true. :D

Those brain training games are budget priced. They shouldn't bother you anymore than UMD movie sales on PSP do.

And WE doesn't have a good history of selling on anything other than consoles.

Soccer is as much a non-game as the stuff you're complaining about. :-O

Even I believed the PSP would outperform the DS this week (or at least tie it). Now I'm not so sure.

Tamagotchi DS will sells more at the weekend :D

1) PS2 ver of WE9 just released
2) handheld version of WE 9 is not too good
3)
5 sec loading time (ISO) vs 50 sec loading time (UMD)

......... :/

Does this mean that the PSP has virtually no chance of being the top handheld in Japan?

When this is the white PSP being released?

That was pretty evident quite awhile ago. This just flat out confirms it. It'll do big numbers once the original FF content is out for it, but it'll never come anywhere near the DS with Pokemon and co on its side.

Japan's infatuation with with regurgitated, overpriced, mediocre, hack-n-slash mission packs makes me cry. :(

America's infatuation with with regurgitated, overpriced, mediocre, American Football roster updates makes me cry. :(

To be realistic: yes, the handheld war in Japan is more or less over. We should wait for the hard- and software numbers next week to see how DS, PSP, WE and Co. performed, but as it seems it is even possible that DS sells more hw units than PSP.
And I just don't see any other game release on PSP this year selling enough to lift it over the DS' hw numbers.

More or less yeah. It has a small chance of changing with the many new JPN PSP games announced.

Oh wait, that's right, Nintendo has Pokemon.

I retract my statement. DS = winnar.

It's not looking good for Sony despite the release of White PSP & WE9. It's business as usual with DS, GBA has got a huge boost with the launch of the Micro. Nintendo is laughing allthe way to the bank. :lol

The handheld wars are over in Japan! DS for the win!

...but seriously, we should wait for next week's numbers before drawing conclusions from daily charts. If PSP doesn't outsell the DS in the coming week, it really is over for this year.

White PSP + WE9 was supposed to the Nintendogs sales burst for sony.

Has anyone played Tamagotchi yet? It looks so cute.

Holy shit, this week is just crazy with 4 systems seeing major releases. Obviously the GBM is gonna be the champ this week, not just the new hardware and Mario nostalgia but also SRTJ will be huge, however the DS is also looking to do well. In fact Tamagotchi looks odds on be vying with Naruto as the biggest 3rd party DS game so far this year. Gyakuten Saiban is also doing well with the limited edition seemingly getting quite a high percentage of sales. At the very least it looks like a good week for traditional games on DS rather than just the non-games doing well.

The big loser it seems could be the psp. Earlier this year the DS sold 22K in a week. The following week saw new colours and Kirby raising that to 55K. So there is very much a standard to compare. However it seems as though the psp is likely between 30-40K only and will again be outsold by the DS, perhaps even by as much as 2:1. Anyway, my predictions for the top 10:

1. Shin Sengoku Musou 4 Moshouden PS2 222K
2. Super Robot Taisen J GBA 120K
3. Tamagotchi DS 82K
6. WE9 PSP 64K
4. Famicon Mini Super Mario Brothers GB 54K
5. Dr. Mario & Panel de pon GB 37K
7. Mario tennis advance GB 32K
8. Brain Training DS 25K
9. Soft brain training DS 22K
10. Gyakuten Saiban DS 21K
11. Gyakuten Saiban Limited edition DS 15K
12. Jump Super Stars DS 11K

Your predictions for Gyakuten Saiban seem a bit low. It is directly behind WE9, it could perhaps even have outsold WE9 with the two SKU's combined.
