Pokemon back up.
Kirbys legs getting stronger
Sony rule Japan
Wario and Mario probably get 1 million this year as peeps buy the DS these are guaranteed to sell a few copies.

Read 3 weblogs this morning and all have great sales for The Drinky Club Non-Game "Game" and where surprised at the variety of people buying it. Also talked of a key-ring some stores got to give away with the game???? Anyone know about this??

19 GBA Pocket monster emerald Pokemon RPG 2004/9/16

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's still in the top 20, but damnit I am surprised by its longevity. How long did RU/SA stay on the charts? That had much more of a consumer incentive to purchase due to it being packaged with the link cable & allowing 4 player simultaneous battle, collect, & trading functionality. If Diamond & Pearl are truly online capable, nothing will top its ww sales-output. And I abhor the series, but recognize its continued blockbuster market popularity & success. A cash-cow franchise in every sense of the word, especially when you estimate the R&D costs put into their development.

Are Pokemon Company profits posted seperate from Overall Nintendo one's or are they one and the same?

Also judging by what i read, Nintendogs is going to go some way to try and take on Pokemon, but 3 stores selling many copies (100 according to the blogs) of a game between them isn't that great is it??? (Thats 100 between 3 stores not each)

Preliminary reports are saying

Romancing SaGa: 142k
Fire Emblem: 89k
nintendogs: ~80k (34k shiba, 25k dachs, 19k chihuahua)
Naruto: 36k
Baseball life: 25k
Rockman Zero 4: 20k
Derby Time: 11k
Demento: 10k
Shutokou Battle: 10k

The weekend should be a much busier time for nintendogs sales though.

thanx for this priceless data :D

shutokou battle bomb ?

80k for a Non Game game??

If its a non game and people won't review it as a game, surely it shouldn't be in the GAME charts and should have a chart of its own??

Weekly sales ended 99th May 2085
1. Nintendogs
2. ElectroPlankton

Nintendo own the chart

I'm not 100% certain TD, but for general tax purposes I believe profits are distributed seperately from Nintendo's. Nintendogs has a universal appeal, & can reach traditionally non-hardcore or even casual gamers. Esp. a largely untapped female population, so in that sense it may very well become as large as Pokemon in japan. The rest of the world is the question.

Nintendogs probably 100k-120k for first weak.

Not bad for a new franchise?
I reckon it'll have Loooooong lgs as word gets around and others see it.....
Plenty of DS sales too i hope!
Hopefully a nice spike in GC sales too.

yeah i saw WEAK, thats why i didn't correct the spelling

But nothings confirmed yet anyway.
And its still not bad for just 2million installed base.

Remember GBA/SP have well over 20million installed base and 2-3million sales per game

It would be actually pretty good and way above kirby/yoshi numbers in first week

4 PS2 War during ..Gundam.. one-mobile soldier year Bandai STG 2005/4/7
what i don't get is how this retarded translator screws up the order of stuff so much. the title in japanese is: kidou senshi gundam ichi nen sensou. that means, in order: mobile soldier gundam one year war.

what the fuck?

anyway, that's just a digression. i don't really give a crap about numbers, sorry. ^_^;;

It's pretty amazing that Minna no Golf Portable and SM64 DS have had such phenomenal legs. I'm curious what SM64 and Made in Wario's sales are up to now.. I wish Dengeki had never changed their format. :(

I'd imagine the extra 2k comes from the main numbers being something like 34.4, 25.7, etc. I'd imagine that the game could sell as many as double that total by the end of Saturday although I think a likely total is around 135k.

Given the impressions we've seen of it so far, there's no real surprise there. Big screw up by Genki.

Don't remind me... <sniff>

Kirby and Wario is #1 and #2 if you don´t count the new games. That is the most important thing in this chart. Tells us something about hardware sales...

I don't think it should be surprising anyone that Nintendogs is selling well.

It's like having a cute-looking puppy INSIDE your handheld. That you can stroke, pet, and play rope games with.

One thing I think about is a few of my Japanese friends who always wanted a dog but either lived where pets weren't alive or parents would never let them, given how inconvenient they are.

I don't know, I just see an interactive touching interface with something that portrays lifelike behavior as being the real selling point of the DS. You just can't get that level of satisfaction from button/joystick input. Kirby and Yoshi show this pretty well too, it's just way more satisfying.

A well executed DS game really does make normal-input games feel like you're playing DDR with a standard PS2 controller.

That's pretty good for Nintendogs, but I'll be impressed if its legs can stand up to the likes of Carbi. Surely this wouldn't be a question if Nintendo actually made the game about a 'Nintendog'. You know, a Mario hat-wearing, DK-faced, gun-armed, pointy eared, enemy-inhaling, monster-catching, sticky-tonged dogthing that talks like Reggie Fils-Aimes. Also, it would live on the realistically-grassed fields of Hyrule.

Nintendogs sold 88k on its FIRST DAY OUT, a thursday? O_o

Holy shit

:lol

All games are released on thursdays and first day sales in Japan usually account for 80-90% of the entire week's sales. Why are you acting so shocked and surprised as if games in Japan are released on a) other days, b) have crappy first day sales? Or is the spin already beginning? :D

so, that still means we can expect 110k-130k overall between the titles for the week, which is extremely good.

Faiaremubrem!!

Is that an actual translation of 'Fire Emblem' or just terrible Engrish?
English titles phonetically put into uh... one of those alphabets that probably ends in -ana... and then re-romanized gets you funny stuff. Or about what you'd hear listening to a Japanese commercial.

I'm not saying it's bad, but he was putting all the focus on the wrong things. :lol

Fire Emblem was released on wednesday so yes you are wrong

Sometimes weekend sales outsell 1st day sales.

Fire Emblem was an exception because it was the 15th anniversery of FE1. ALL GAMES COME OUT ON THURSDAY.

....

I'd like to see examples of this. Maybe if you sold 1k on the first day you might sell 1.1k on the weekend, but games always sell over 50% of their first week sales on day1.

But Nintendogs is a non-game. :D

No it isn't. It's nice, but it's not extremely good, or even close to these "THE NEXT POKEMON" predictions so many people had.

Again I will say that Pokemon had the Card Collection Craze going for it - then cartoons then movies. It's fanbase still keeps it going strong year after year.

Nintendogs will sell Mario Sunshine numbers at best.
...unless nintendo makes more puppy plushies for the U.S. to sell at McDonalds or something

Did Pokemon take off straight away? Honestly, I don't think I was even aware of the title back when it launched in Japan.

Did we even get sales data like this back in '96?
