God, I miss Yuna so much. I was so obsessed with her when she first debuted.
I checked her Instagram and it appears she is in the studio. Maybe she'll make a comeback? She has a lovely voice.
I don't like this at all.
Does sound like something that would come from NA or EU EDM music scene trying to go for a summer hit with the masses. Soulless. Just sounds safe and not playful in any way. If you put an English vocalist to do the vocals I would have believed it was a US produced track for example.
New Perfume is damn catchy and cute, looking forward to the full version

We haven't heard the full song yet, but this sounds more in line to the likes of Chocolate Disco and One Room Disco than anything on Cosmic Explorer. I don't think the problem is with from which era this is comic from, rather than they have done this sound better in the past. I still think it could be fun.

The instrumental for the new Perfume song would absolutely not sound out of place if used by a Western pop act. The funny thing is if you listen to certain older Perfume songs, it sometimes sounds like Nakata was pioneering this sort of sound before it became popular (Spending All My Time for example). The difference is back then it seemed like he was making whatever he thought sounded good and now it feels like he's just trying to follow the trends.

Depends if Perfume's goal is still to try and crack America, I'm fine with Nakata producing this sound at the moment. Everyday sounds like a Baby Face and Miracle Worker mix (aka the best two songs from Cosmic Explorer).

And there is one other really popular song that goes all in on the chorus just boringly chopping up vocals with a deep beat which I was looking for but failed because I don't know who the artist is.
Like Ethan Kath from Crystal Castles knows how to cut up vocals and play around with them like a kid on a playground. So many producers just treat it like some trendy money shot and it's not. It just sounds like every other dancepop/pop song. And Nakata knows how to be awesome about it too. Like the song Daijyobanai is stellar.
Also so many western electro pop producers seem to have that same electric keyboard sound where it sounds like they are banging at the keys with their pointer fingers. You can hear exactly what I mean in exhibit B. Instant turn off. Be creative, be be creative.

It's certainly a lot better than the stuff from ETERNALBEAT, but still not as good as their older stuff. Still too synth heavy IMO. Also it really reminds me of a slower Ribbon.
