They don't have to ship them anywhere and are manufactured in Japan. Probably more care in the assembly as well.
In fact, I'm 100% sure they're manufactured with more care.
I still have an electronic Zojirushi rice cooker that is now over 20 years old and it still looks and runs like it's brand new.
They started making ones shortly after in China and they would break down in a handful of years and was well known to buy the Made in Japan versions vs the China assembled ones in the culinary community.
In fact, I'm 100% sure they're manufactured with more care.

Sony fucking the rest of the world but not their own country ? if the price increase was due to ram and nvme, it should be all up in price.
them keeping it at that price means the price increase is just pure greed and have nothing to do with current situation.

Not an excuse. They were not selling good there anyway. The only reason they did this in the first place was because of the weak currency. but this is just Sony telling the West to fuck off and pay the difference so them japanese gamers dont get affected.

I get that part. but the nvme and the ram issue is global. and the supplier is the same. the other parts being manufactured in japan is possible. but i highly doubt the nvme and ram are made in japan.

No one can beat nintendo there. if its not a handheld its dead. They dont even look at nintendo this way. not till the PS6 portable thats for sure.

It's most likely they still have plenty of old inventory of the JP only version. When that runs out, they'll hike then (or it'll go away)

They still have to try. Need to keep the brand strong until a product Japan wants comes out. If they raise the price now, they're actually dead in Japan. They'll do this as long as they can.
