I wonder if Conan died on the inside a little when he heard, after having been forced to move to LA a few years ago, that 'The Tonight Show' was moving back to NYC for Fallon.
Oh I'm sure he did. I also think if NBC offered it again, he would leave TBS in a heartbeat to go back.

I hope Letterman retires and somehow Leno ends up on the Late Show. Just so the story is better when I tell my kids what talk shows were all about.

Everyone comes off as a self serving, manipulative greedy jackass in that book.
Leno, Conan, Letterman & especially Jimmy Kimmel.

I don't get it. Leno announced in 2004 that he was stepping down and would hand the show over to Conan. He gave FIVE YEARS NOTICE. Then he goes on to act like he was given a raw deal? Those five years snuck up on him or something? What a mook.

That's Leno's entire legacy. A car museum

Look at Carson, who was loved by millions and walked out on top and barely made any public appearances after leaving. Leno will have none of that. Just a museum in L.A. somewhere.

Carson did some writing in retirement... For Letterman.

This is a good book. I also liked a similar book about SNL (Live from New York), though I also understand a lot of the criticisms about that same book (mainly format and giving the most exposure to the people who showed for the interviews).

Sucks..........

That Letterman isn't getting shoved out the door at the same time. Late night will be a better place when these 2 guys are gone.

I like watching Leno though change is necessary. Will I watch Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show? Sure, I'll give it a few chances to try and warm up to it. If I don't like it, I'll just go to bed earlier.

I don't think we've read the same book. Money is not what these guys are addicted to.

It's not money, but their inflated ego's

Leno's ego was too big to be pushed out when he was at the top. Conan's ego was too big to consider Leno still having a show before him. Letterman desperately tried to cash in on the whole scandel.
Kimmel, on the other hand, was all about the money. He wanted a bigger contract & didn't care who he screwed to get it.
