what if BF4 and Ghosts are 720p on Xbox One but run MUCH smoother than on PS4..? what if the PS4 versions chug like crazy? which one would you rather PLAY? remember what happened with PS3 versions this gen, almost all had framerate issues compared to Xbox 360... i could see history repeating itself again. MS aren't stupid. besides a lot of people only have 720p tvs anyway so they won't miss 1080p. it's just a luxury, not necessary for good gameplay. and do you honestly REALLY trust a Dualshock to be good with FPS shooters? yeah no thanks

anyway.. whatever the case you can play Titanfall ONLY on Xbox LIVE ;)

You're just begging for a username quote aren't you?

Dev tools are to blame according to him. They still aren't ready

Kagari more or less confirmed this some pages back, if I understood her post correctly.

It's his job as a journalist to seek the truth and report it, to minimize harm, act independently, and to be accountable. These are the four tenets of journalism. GAF should be defending Jeremy from backlash and the gaming media at large owe him big time for doing what they don't have the balls to do. This is their moment to stand up and say enough to all the bullshit as a collective, but most of them are intent on being lapdogs for the major players.

I hope more join Jeremy and stop protecting deceptive practices by MS.

Quoted for truth and justice.

Probably both. But I guess some people like Gies want to believe that this is only because of development tools and that it will be fixable. I don't really think this is enough when looking at the specs.

If Forza can be 1080p@60fps and Ghosts cannot do better than 720p, then clearly the tools are the problem.

Well that's because we are all part of the Sony hivemind. You would not believe the amount of hate/meltdowns I've gotten over the last several days.

I wonder if they will apologize?

I've never really looked at these leaks as a hivemind. Since CBOAT opened the treasure trove, there's been a strong sense of fear regarding Xbox One. If anything, your claims have only proven some fears to be realities. It only looks like a hivemind attack because of how frequent the issues appear to be for Microsoft. There is literally nothing going for them in a positive light. Any positive they have comes with an asterisk for consumers.

Everything points to immature development tools and OS problems. Xbox One is less powerful than PS4, but it's not that weak, 720p weak.

So that might be something they could fix with a later game patch to bring a 720p game up to 1080p.

Maybe some games aren't even playable on certain dev kits because they require a specific firmware that is still being beta-tested at Microsoft?

Or maybe they're playable but they're buggy and crash often, so much that reviewers wouldn't be able to review them properly until they get the day-one firmware update.

Ok i always get both Xbox and Playstation consoles but i am more of an Xbox fan, i also only have a 720p TV so none of this really effects me but i think i'm going to go with the PS4 first and get the Xbox One later. The resolution 'problem' doesn't even bother me because like i said i only have a 720p TV but i just can't cope with the negativity anymore, its like fucking cancer and its seriously frustrating and effecting me being on here and other forums so i'm just going to go with PS4 first and join everyone else as i can't really take all this shit anymore, i leave this forum with headaches at times.

So i guess i wasn't lying when I said cod was 720p. Who knew!?!

For all the flakiness of that rumor, seems to have sparked into a pretty big shitstorm.

You're doin' god's work, son.

I can confirm that 720p is 360 less than 1080p.

Even the Kotaku guy is jumpin' in.

world's burnin' tonight

Honestly, I don't see the problem. No one can see the difference between 720p and 1080p - We're talking about a minuscule difference in pixels. It's obvious what Microsoft were trying to do and they achieved it; create a gaming machine that is extremely versatile with the right performance for the market. The Playstation 4 is just expensive and decadent, like a giant phallus symbol just reaching into the heavens. Barely half of that 8GB GDDR5 is even available to the developers -- All show, no go!

I honestly can't believe the fuss being kicked up about this. Microsoft still have amazing technologies like Kinect and stuff. Xbox is a great brand these days and no one really cares about Sony anymore so no matter who has the bigger numbers, Xbox will be the victor.

That's the way I see, The Xbone has the muscle (not up to PS4 level) but the tools needed to flex those muscles aren't anywhere near the point they should be. Meanwhile... Sony has the superior architecture and more mature dev tools. It's like a perfect storm.

Isnt equating this to being similar to the ps3 vs 360 situation a pretty big leap?

Like isnt it more comparable to sub hd ps360 games vs Wii in terms of resolution?

The biggest difference is that their isn't any difficult to harness power in the Xbox One that can push it beyond the PS4. It's more complicated but even after it's figured out, it will still be weaker.

Oh, so it's confirmed, I guess? Well, I'm at least curious and interested in BF4, but I more than likely wasn't going to grab COD regardless. 720p is no doubt a little embarrassing if the competition is at higher or 1080p, but it's also not the end of the world. As long as they make sure the games look good. And, make no mistake, for being 720p they almost certainly better look damn good. :)

You vastly overestimate the enforceability of NDAs. They are essentially worthless across jurisdictions. But beyond that, you can only be held liable for damages if you say something that is false that leads to MS suffering direct material damage.

If this was the case, CBOAT wouldn't disguise the posts made. More stuff would come out. Mods, mortimer and co would outright say things, instead of what they have to do now.

It's nice to say that is the case and call it there, but that's extremely idealistic at best. It's not even remotely that simple. It costs people jobs, blackballs them from industries, and puts them into supremely shitty legal situations.

And you want them to hurl themselves into that situation because you want the hot scoops? How is that fair?

For now. EA goes where the money is ... period.

If the PS4 version chugs, then it wouldn't be 1080p.

The reason PS3 had problem with multiplats was because of the Cell being hard to code for, and the split RAM. This isn't the case with the PS4, since it's both more powerful and easier to code for.

Most people these days have 1080p TVs/Monitors, this isn't 2006.

Oh and I can play TitanFall at 1080p/60FPS on my PC.

In all seriousness, I personally believe that there are no reviews because a patch to allow Xbox to be played isn't released yet, similar to PS4's FW1.5.

Maybe Microsoft is finding a way to actually run the review copies and might be having some trouble there. Anyone thought of that?

I don't post in these topics often, but...

I'm seriously perplexed how MS had 8 years to make the successor of the 360 and all they did was botch it.

Not necessarily. It's pretty much confirmed that bf4/cod will be 720p. That's certainly not ideal but I guess I could live with it because I do really enjoy microsofts first party games plus the extra features of the x1 would also be enjoyable in my opinion. The major problem is Bish/CBOAT/others hinting at some pretty large issues that has to do with either the OS or hardware. I honestly can't justify dropping ~$700 on a product if there is a possibility of it being defective. We know the x1 development has been very rushed and I just don't have a good feeling about picking one up at launch. On the other hand, I won a ps4 from Taco Bell so at the very least ill be saving around $500. Plus the improved visuals of the ps4, games first mentality of the development team and Sony's commitment/respect for indies is very encouraging.

you won a free ps4 ... so fucking jealous ..

Has that ever been done before? How big would such a patch be?

Some PSN game i think did that. It was mentioned in the other thread.

Then you had those humongous GT5 patches that included lots of optimizations in the changenotes
