Looks like all my third party purchases will be on Sony's console. Now it's up to MS to out put out some amazing first party exclusives.

Honestly, I don't see the problem. No one can see the difference between 720p and 1080p - We're talking about a minuscule difference in pixels. It's obvious what Microsoft were trying to do and they achieved it; create a gaming machine that is extremely versatile with the right performance for the market. The Playstation 4 is just expensive and decadent, like a giant phallus symbol just reaching into the heavens. Barely half of that 8GB GDDR5 is even available to the developers -- All show, no go!

I honestly can't believe the fuss being kicked up about this. Microsoft still have amazing technologies like Kinect and stuff. Xbox is a great brand these days and no one really cares about Sony anymore so no matter who has the bigger numbers, Xbox will be the victor.

You can check all the benchmarks and GPU is not powerful enough to deliver 1080p.

While its fun to read all the speculation and all that I'd like a simple question answered. Is this a hardware level problem or a software stack issue?

If it was OS/Software issues it might not be so bad because that stuff can be patched (eventually). If its something like hardware defects that's much more serious and likely warrants a preorder cancellation.

They don't literally have a month now. If anything, they have a few weeks (if at all) as they have to start mass producing the consoles and shipping them from the manufacturers to retailers etc etc. and that takes time.

Would you be getting him it for Christmas or launch? They won't be so sold out and out of stock between launch and Christmas that you wouldn't be able to find one in the month between the two, or you could you pick up the one you have pre-ordered, keep it in the closet for a few weeks and return it if everything is up in smoke.
