If the PS4's launch lineup wasn't so poor in comparison my XBO preorder would probably already be cancelled at this stage...
 
Can you guys imagine if we had a 1UP Yours to look forward to after all of this had gone down? Shane would be incredible.

true, part (all?) of the PS3's oops was tech fetishism at the expense of market/business interests, and like you say, this seems like the exact opposite problem. Just curious if there is a sort of timeline developed yet, or if it's gonna hash out over the next few months/years.

Not necessarily. It's pretty much confirmed that bf4/cod will be 720p. That's certainly not ideal but I guess I could live with it because I do really enjoy microsofts first party games plus the extra features of the x1 would also be enjoyable in my opinion. The major problem is Bish/CBOAT/others hinting at some pretty large issues that has to do with either the OS or hardware. I honestly can't justify dropping ~$700 on a product if there is a possibility of it being defective. We know the x1 development has been very rushed and I just don't have a good feeling about picking one up at launch. On the other hand, I won a ps4 from Taco Bell so at the very least ill be saving around $500. Plus the improved visuals of the ps4, games first mentality of the development team and Sony's commitment/respect for indies is very encouraging.

Yeah, I think enough hints from people behind the scenes who actually give a shit have been dropped. Waving a red flag and flashing a light, if you will. Just enough info to serve as a warning without causing trouble for others.
 
To be fair, Brian Altano is a cynical person... that's what he goes for in his podcasts and Up at Noon, that's just how he is...

That comment doesn't necessarily mean he hates him or anything... he's just pointing out the obvious.
 
Ok i always get both Xbox and Playstation consoles but i am more of an Xbox fan, i also only have a 720p TV so none of this really effects me but i think i'm going to go with the PS4 first and get the Xbox One later. The resolution 'problem' doesn't even bother me because like i said i only have a 720p TV but i just can't cope with the negativity anymore, its like fucking cancer and its seriously frustrating and effecting me being on here and other forums so i'm just going to go with PS4 first and join everyone else as i can't really take all this shit anymore, i leave this forum with headaches at times.
 
The ether'ing of Gies, a console war already burning white hot, and a launch with tantalisingly huge issues whispered about.

I do so love to take in a good show :D

Who says another company will be *needed* to fill the void? Look at PS1/PS2 domination. Historically gaming has *never* managed to sustain more than two major competitors at a time; this last generation is actually pretty anomalous in that regard. If MS drops out the spoils more likely go between Sony and Nintendo than any other possibility.

Believe me, it was worse back in the days where people couldn't commonly afford multiple machines.

C64 vs Spectrum
Amiga vs Atari ST
SNES vs Megadrive

The above were bitterly long fought wars between the owners, but only at a local level. My parents were too poor for me to even be on the losing side of C64/Spectrum, I had an Atari 800. I won the second two though (the Megadrive pulverised the SNES in the UK).

God bless the internet, now the battles happen on a global level. If you're not enjoying this, you're dead inside.

It's just amazing to see that Nvidia and AMD are pushing 4k gaming on the PC front, and we have a console launching that's going to struggle to get any 1080p titles out the door.

It's amazing what the last 8 years have done in the hardware scene.
