I seriously can't understand how so many people think fondly of this movie. It's one of those movies that are so retarded it's funny (for some people). For me it's just so retarded I have to shut it off immediatly and burn the television it was on.

I guess you had to be there man. If you were the age most of us were in 85 when we first saw it it'd hold a special place in your heart too.

"What happened to Sully?"

"I let him go"

:lol

nice. wasn't commando slated for blu ray at some point? it's in my netflix 'saved' list. i hope we get the director's cut in hi def.

Yeah, it was announced and later cancelled ;(. Hopefully it still comes out alongside this DVD edition.

Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). Recently remastered, looks gorgeous.

Wow.

The natural flow and rhythm of the choreographed sword fight, a single shot, full bodies in the frame, all without rapid cuts and blatant case of "the seizure cam" back in 1938?

What the hell happened to American action cinematography and choreography for so long, especially in the 80's and 90's onward?!

Reading this thread, particularly the replies to oxrock, reminds me of how much fun those old action movies were. The catchphrases were priceless. I think Running Man had the highest proportion of catchphrase to regular dialog of any 80's movie made. It seemed like they said something cheesy after icing every bad guy.

Gameshow Host: I'll be back
Arnie (before killing him): Only in a rerun.

Lady Sidekick: What happened to Buzzsaw?
Arnie (after cutting him in half): He had to split.

Arnie (after choking a guy to death with razor wire): What a pain in the neck.

I'm sure there's a lot more. That's just from memory.

They don't make films like they used to :(

I bought my brother Commando for his Christmas present a few years back and now we watch it every year on Christmas day, much to the chagrin of my sister as her boyfriend wants to watch it with us. Consider this bought.

I watched this a few months ago after not seeing it for 10 years and I didn't remember it being so cheesy, its got one of the most hilariously acted Arnie lines ever;

"I live to see you eat that contract, but I hope you leave enough room for my fist because I'm going to ram it into your stomach and break your god-damn spine!"

All left now is a John Matrix movie that will top John Rambo.
My personal favorite post-mortem quote "Don't wake up my friend he's dead tired"

I to this day honestly believe that to be the greatest line of dialog in the history of cinema. Written down it's awesome enough, but the way Arnie says it is just beyond awesome.

The Academy Awards need to see the error of it ways for not allowing this film to sweep the Oscar when it was released, by renaming the Oscars, The Commandos...

I bought this on BETAMAX once
I bought this one VHS, so did my dad, so did my brother
I bought this on DVD, so did my dad, so did my brother
I will buy this again, so will my dad, so will my brother

Commando ****ing rocks.

*fixed* but the grammar police will come after me

The best line from Running Man:

Arnie (after killing Sub Zero): Killian! Here is your Sub Zero. Now... PLAIN ZERO!

:lol

My other favorites:

"I was afraid you'd miss me."
Cook: "Don't worry. We won't." *Cook opens fire*

After Matrix kills Cook, "We'll take Cook's car. He won't be needing it."

And, the one I was alluding to earlier:

Cook: "Know what I like best?"

Car salesman: "What's that?"

Cook: "The price." *Cook drives through dealership window, running over salesman*

I'd really hate to have lunch with the humorless bastard that doesn't find something funny and/or classic about this movie.

Nice it's on right now on AMC! Well, at least on the West Coast it is.

Bring it on.

I didn't know James Horner composed the music. Cool.

It could very well be that I waited until I was 20 or so to watch the movie that i've formed the opinion that I have. There's a long list of other dumb movies that I realize are dumb but still love to watch.

I only saw bits and pieces when I was younger. Didn't see the entire movie until a few years ago, and I loved it. You need to appreciate it for what it is though... what I mentioned earlier. :D

This news just made my entire f*cking day. Now if only we could get a street date for BSG Season 3, all would be right in my universe.

Predator is still better. :D

Well, yeah, Predator's better, for different reasons. Actually, I think Predator is Arnie's finest film. Love it more than the Terminator flicks.

Commando is like Arnie's best comedy. Hell, it's funnier than all his intentional comedies combined.
