Didn't make a ton of great movies, but he made a few amazing ones.

RIP

i finally saw Lost Boys recently and it was thrilling. all the wild camera tricks and abstract setups he used. he was definitely a man with a vision. it had all the inventiveness and production quality of classic era music videos. he was definitely a man with a vision. even if that vision killed off Batman for a bit ;-) Come to think of it, those films really set the table perfectly for the more grimdark modern take.

For “Batman Forever,” the openly gay Schumacher introduced nipples to the costumes worn by Batman and Robin, leaning into the longstanding latent homoeroticism between the two characters.

I'm pretty sure the team was just trolling Bob Kane when saying they did it for sex appeal and the suit was actually inspired by lorica musculata, which happens to go nicely with the Expressionist look of these movies (see Die Nibelungen's Siegfried).

Batman Forever didn't have nipples on all of the costumes at first.

Sad to hear. :( RIP. Batman Forever is one my of my favorite Batman movies:

I liked Batman Forever quite a lot as well. Didn't catch me as the Tim Burton version of Batman, but i liked Val Kilmer as Batman and even Jim Carrey was well casted as the Riddler i thought.
And Nicole Kidman of course...rawr.

What also got me was the nice OST.

Unfortunatly Batman & Robin was a depature from that. I still have to watch Falling Down...i did just see it partly.

I like Falling Down and Phone Booth, despite their flaws. his Batman movies are more of a product of the times and while I don't like them that much, I respect him for all the things he done right in them. his passing is a loss for the movie industry for sure.

Loved Batman & Robin as a kid.

I don't want to speak ill of the dead but I thought this guy just sucked and was a bad director.
Does it anyway. Lost Boys, St. Elmo's Fire, 8mm, A Time To Kill, Phantom of the Opera, fucking Falling Down. No.

Batman: Forever had a massive influence on how I like my films and video games to appear aesthetically. Loved the colour palette and the clash of modern neon and twisted gothic for the city. Thus, why I like Arkham Knight so much. It's exactly how I envisioned my ideal Gotham.

Regardless of your opinion on the guy's body of work, he was undeniably a visionary. RIP Schumacher.

His Batman films really captured a part of the Batman comic universe that many like to ignore. I loved them for what they brought to the table even though I am a bigger fan of the darker Batman films from Burton.

RIP. Didn't realize I'd seen and enjoyed so many of his movies. I used to hate him for Batman and Robin but even that is enjoyable in it's context. It was like a Saturday morning Batman cartoon but in live action. Haven't seen Tigerland though which I'm gonna do soon.

Lost Boys is an all-time classic. Grew up with that movie and I have tons of nostalgia for it. Seen it so many times and it never gets old.

They don't make movies like that anymore.

He was so great when it comes to certain films, but not sure great......

A half dozen really fun to good films. I mean a couple of films he made were super good.

RIP but honestly I am not bothered by his bat nipples. Just felt it was unfair that he didn't allow batgirl suit to have nipples.

RIP

He made some great films outside of Batman and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart and a hard lump in my pants, for Batman Forever.

It's probably just nostalgia but I really enjoyed Batman Forever as a child (it was the first Batman film that I was able to see in the cinema). Gotham looked amazing, the soundtrack was cool, the villains were entertaining, they did a decent job with Robin and Nicole Kidman was ridiculously hot.

RIP.

He was a good filmmaker, even Batman Forever is a pretty good movie, Batman and Robin is harder to defend, but it's stupid that people so let it overshadow his career when he made great films like The Lost Boys and Falling Down (very good and very relevant movie)

Loved watching The Lost Boys whenever it would play on TNT as a kid.

Heck, I even saw The Number 23 in theaters and I think it's a pretty underrated movie.

He made the best Mr T movie of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I like the scene with all the topless women, Dean Cundey cinematography + naked women = yummy.

It's ironic too because Schumacher was gay, but clearly he was a guy big on aesthetics and could appreciate the aesthetic of the female form, everyone focuses on when he put George Clooney in that tight leather and ignore the fact that he also put Alicia Silverstone in tight leather as well.

He was not my favorite director he screwed up Batman..

But he made some cool films that nobody else could have made. 8mm
Phone Booth, Veronica Guerin,, 8mm, Falling Down... Flat fucking liners.
The lost Boys.
And yes St Elmos fire which is Garbo, but a lot of people like that film. It has the most cheesy yet awesome theme song.
