The 39-year old Daly is the first person to attempt this type of crossing of the Niagara Falls Gorge. He will get 20 swings to cross the gorge. The length of the carry required to cross the Gorge has been measured at 362 yards. Dalys personal best drive in competition this year is 356 yards.
Daly currently ranks sixth in average driving distance (303.7 yards) on the 2005 PGA Tour. The winner of two Majors on the PGA Tour (1991 PGA Championship and 1995 British Open), Daly has led the PGA Tour in average driving distance 11 times since 1991.
Daly joins a long list of daredevils, entertainers and thrill seekers lured by the mystique of Niagara Falls over the years. Annie Taylor was the first person to go over the Falls in a barrel. She accomplished this on October 24, 1901
I was down by Tablerock today and seen them setting up, thought I would make a thread about it. Is 362yards really far for golfers? I think he will hit someone in the river. :lol
