No one claimed credit for the Edwards vote. Several electors said they suspected that someone unconsciously mixed up the two Johns on the ticket rather than purposefully made a political statement.

Bush is due to receive 286 electoral votes; Kerry was slated to get 252, but the Minnesota vote will reduce that total. It takes 270 votes to win the presidency.

Happened in 2000 when someone in Washington D.C. sent in a blank ballot due to the lack of legislative representation for the city.

Well, yeah, it would be, but most states make their electors take an oath to cast the vote for the person who won the popular vote in their state. They're pretty much picked by the party, anyway. I'd hope that the state parties would be smart enough to pick someone who wouldn't vote the wrong way.

Bentsen got one in 88..and Reagan got one in 76..and im sure its happened lots of other times
