I take it threads like these are now freely creatable?

no, but you have to give it up occasionally for the really brilliant uses of the technique, particularly in regards to the timing and difficulty of execution :)

Burton sucks.

Burton + partially mo-capped + 3D = so much suckage

Didn't you like Speed Racer? I don't think I care for your opinion kthnx

Indeed I did PD. You think Forrest Gump is the greatest film ever made, so you not caring for my opinions means Im doing something right.

If Scullibundo got banned for that AVATAR thread, I think this also deserves a ban.
His thread was funny, though. Everyone laughed. This one is trying way too hard. I think the other ban was just due to duckroll wanting to use his "clever" title edit.

I've always loved this gif. Where the hell is it from?
From the GAF thread about 21 Jump Street.

OMG BURTON AND DEPP?

I HEAR RUMOURS THAT HELENDA BONHAM CARTER MAY BE INVOLVED!!!

And I just read my tarot deck and get the feeling that someone may be wearing black and white stripes at some point.

Actually my favorite film is To Kill a Mockingbird, and Forrest Gump isn't in my top ten. I may love Forrest Gump, but at least I don't love Speed Racer!

Burton is one of my favorite directors. I thought his Chocolate Factory remake was horrible, and Corpse Bride was a colossal disappointment but I loved Sweeny Todd

To Kill a Mockingbird = <3

What did you think of Ed Wood? Personally, that's my favorite Burton and Depp film.

Okay, that's great and all, but where the fuck is news on the Dark Shadows movie?

:lol :lol @ people actually falling for the thread title. TDK's still fresh on everyone's mind; do you REALLY think the next movie would be far enough in development as to announce casting? Come on, GAF.

I'm tired of the Burton + Depp team up. Alone and separate I like them just together they're getting old. Burton asks for the same things from Johnny and Johnny gives almost the same character each time.

oh come on, your fucking self. do you REALLY think the instant people see that thread title and click on the thread they necessarily rebuke what they've read? after some processing, sure, but i for a moment though it might be true - especially since the thread was 2 pages long and not even closed.

Then those people aren't following this forum's guidelines of reading the original post before posting.

Reason it isn't closed is because there is actual discussion here once the dust settles. The stars were aligned and in Dark Knight fever it would have been foolish not to.

This is why I'm excited for him in this role. This character is crazy and unintelligible. Psychotic, even. This might break away from the samey-ness of Depp/Burton team ups.

?? what? i know why it isn't closed, and don't think it should be. mildly clever, some people appreciated it. my point is that the fact that it reached 2 pages lent the title credibility that it wouldn't otherwise deserve.

Am I the only one that finds Burton's style a mockery of itself at this point? It's almost self-satire.

Well, you arent that alone. I've gotten a bit tired of his "one trick pony" directorial style. Its all starting to look the same at this point.

Why must Johny Depp pretty much always play the same snobbish over-acting characters now? And he always makes the same fucking wide-open eyes "Surprised" expression.

I would disagree. They certainly have a distinct feel to them, but you cannot say his films of late look the same. In his older pieces pre-Ed Wood I would agree a bit. Planet of the Apes / Sweeney Todd/ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory / Big Fish? I can't say any of those look the same at all.

Not at all. Just responding to an upset internet man. To come in here and actually be angry due to not reading the OP is the equivalent of stopping at every cell phone store on your way home from work advertising "FREE PHONES" and becoming visibly upset each time.

The only time Burton has been in the wrong with directing was with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Depp was a smug bitch, not Willy Wonka. In fact, everybody was a smug bitch, even Charlie.

And the Oompa Loompas? :lol

I dunno, after reading the actual book, I liked Burton's movie more than the older one. But then again I have no taste.

Annasophia was pretty awesome in that movie.

Same washed out 3-strip color blue filter cinematography, same Elfman scoring, more actors from his "stable" of actors. The stories may be different but they're all directed basically the same. There is nothing wrong with the "Burton" style. I'm just tired of it. Seeing his name attached to a project isn't going to make me dismiss it but its not going to be a motivating factor either.

I've always loved Alice in Wonderland. Didn't know Burton was going to helm a new version, so I guess I'll have to see it.

And, while I did enjoy the clever title, does this thread really need to exist? After all, wouldn't it be more newsworthy if Burton were filming a movie without Depp? ;P

The Mad Hatter is completely batshit insane. There's no way that it will be similar to the other characters.

Can't wait to see Depp in this role.
