I cant really comment on this artist or the current music industry because it turned me off along time ago, but I will say that its disgusting what parents let their 8 - 12 yr old kids listen to.

I work in a middle school w/ a iBook for every student, and see the trash they listen to and what influences them , it really is disgusting. If you think they dont write lyrics like that think again, of course like you mentioned they are influenced by the current shit the music industry produces.

Theory 1: JoJo is NOT 13.

I really don't think that a 13 year old's parents would really approve of their little angel cavorting wildly to songs about boys that go past 2nd base with her. Therefore, I think that the 13 year old thing is to stir up controversy, and she's really 18.

I have a tough time saying Kids is a good movie. I suppose as some great big 'expose', people claim it has merit, but I don't see it. Though the end really brings things full circle, which I enjoyed. Didn't really feel any point to the movie, but then I also depised all the characters.

Bully is a very interesting movie, I enjoyed it more than Kids.

She's cute. Looks like Jenna von Oy, though not as hot. Whether she's legal or not doesn't matter; the entertainment business is about image, not reality, which explains why people fap to Britney Spears.

And although i had strong love/hate thing with Kids, i never thought it was a good movie. It was like an extended, dramatized version of a 20/20 undercover report

The lyrics to those Jojo songs sound like they were written by a computer. You could probably write a program pretty easily to rip these things out: teach it some rhymes, seed it with a few nouns and verbs that are emotional button-pushers (heart; pillow; need; baby), and tell it to hold the percentage of urban slang to, say, 20%: enough to make the lyrics sound "hip", but not so much that it'll make the suburban soccer-mom parents uncomfortable when they hear their fourteen-year-old daughters in their bedrooms, listening to the music of today.

Sad, but not surprising. I also don't think it's necessarily indicative of a degradation of quality in the industry; pop-stars have been being "manufactured" for decades. The fact that she's young and is singing about things may not have actually happened to her are only telling of what musical trends are currently popular, not necessarily the state of the industry as a whole.

Also, I thought any point that "Kids" might have had was lost in the movie trying entirely too hard to be "shocking".

i saw her on a TRL visit.. she is about half the size of the hosts, and definitely looks like she is 13 or younger dressed in some crazy attire.

Hrm... I'm sure she has a private tutor; I doubt her parents would let her forego her education just because she's the current flavor of the month. To be perfectly honest, though, she's an extremely talented singer and you wouldn't believe she's thirteen if you've seen some of the interviews she's done. She seems a little more sure-footed than you're average thirteen year-old, plus, when she says, "It's unfair how people automatically assume that because of my age I don't understand the things that I'm singing about", I have a slight inclination to want to believe her if only for the fact that she seems to carry herself so unlike what you'd think her age would imply.

She's probably having fun anyway; I'm assuming a lot of what goes on concerning the business is a little transparent to her. I really don't think there's anything wrong with pre-teens have an idol that's roughly there age and perhaps even younger than themselves in this case. What would be in appropriate is if they started to whore her up, and I hardly think having eye shadow and hoop earrings would seriously qualify as sexually exploiting her. If anything, the only people I see interpreting it that way would be you guys.

I don't know what elementary school/high school experience was like for everyone, but even when I was in 5th grade (~9 years old) other classmates would discuss who they'd like to be with. Even if only in the context of a puppy love and innocent pre-adolescent attraction, I wouldn't consider it out of place especially within the context of school children today, where kids are supposedly growing up even faster than the norm.

Once she starts crooning about hitting it, slaving herself, masturbation, or walking down the red carpet in her underwear and trenchcoat then yea, I'd be a little concerned. Otherwise, from what I've heard of her single on the radio, it doesn't seem to be abnormal other than the fact that she's the youngest thing to hit pop charts since Britney Spears.

If the parents see enough money on the contract, they'll approve. We're talking about a society that continues to see parents leave their kids locked in a car for 3 hours while they go inside the mall to try out some dresses.

I've been sick of this shit ever since perverted fucks in the media started the legality watch for such people as Britney Spears, Natalie Portman and Anna K. It's become more and more acceptable for teen girls to be "sexed up" (so to speak). I still say it all started with the sickening coverage of Jon Benet Ramsey, with the media calling her nothing but a "beauty queen" while showing images of her wearing makeup that weighed more than she did.
