JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation |OT| Your next post will be... OH MY GOD!

I think these were examples of "over japanization" that purists supposedly want.
But have you ever heard of purists asking for spellings like those? And how could "Evanguelionne", "Rigue Veda" or "Lai Ayanami" be considered "Japanized" spellings? Even the "Bidéogalu" example only kinda/sorta makes sense, if you go there ("lu"?)
Sounds like an utterly nonsensical (and extremely poorly worded on top of that) strawman argument.

I think it's a reference to Esidesi and co.
(Not that those spellings had anything to do with trying to "Japanize" the names...)

I guess I should be used to that kind of silliness by now, and yet...

And yes the names are nowhere to be found, it's been that way for a while, I think towards the end of Golden Wind.
I'm looking at my SBR volume and all it says is "Traduction, adaptation, lettrage et maquette : editions Tonkam "
Well, that's nice...

Ah, well. Less Tonkam silliness, more JoJo TV talk!

Well, at least we can agree that it beats the Italian‘s J‘Lo, right?
Definitely. I remember them arguing Shûeisha specifically asked for that spelling and I find that quite hard to believe (not that I'd see why the Italian publisher would make up a story like that either)...

Lisa Lisa didnt live up to the hype at all. Pretty dull character overall and boring. It seemed as if she could only sport one expression no matter if she was trying to be tough or even funny. Thankfully so much focus on Josephs and Cesears training to keep her in the background. For them, I love their kind of faith in each other and growing bond as they do this training to get prepared, learning or being amazed from each other was a good start, or even worrying about each other.

One of the better training episodes in the genre, though did have a few dull parts. Didnt like how they handled the ending and end theme.

I swear that you hate girls in anime and manga.

Ah no wonder Lisa-Lisa's VA was familiar. She was Trish, Hrist, Elona, Konan, Opera Vectra, Ultimecia, and Gorgon (Magiranger).

It's alright, but personally I prefer MMM and Get Back. Still, Nutbladder seems to be getting back to their previous speed so that's a good thing to using them.

Lisa Lisa's kinda crazy. Really wanted Jojo to try throwing a punch at her at the end of the episode pretty much like he was threatening to do—even if she would just counter it—instead of him bowing to her graciousness and all.

Awesome episode, as always.

And, uh, Lisa Lisa is hot. Let‘s discuss that.

When I learned J.Lo real name was Gyro, after about 20 volumes of SBR (since I never looked for information about SBR on the Internet while I was reading it), I laughed. A lot. I honestly thought it was like that, to keep on the song/groups/singer theme recurring through all the series...

Lisa Lisa they animated you so beautifully <3

I like how they use 1 ep to focus fully on what they had to get done. Skipping the fluff and staying on target with the action is more credit to Part 2 animated.

BAH! Even though I didnt read the manga this left me thinking a bunch of missed opportunities for comedy were swept under the rug...

Loved this Ep though.

Nope, in the manga the training is cut short too. I think there is one page where you see several stages of their training and that's it.

Yeah, anime people aren't missing anything since we got nothing either. Honestly, I like that they did that, but at the same time it feels like a missed opportunity to develop Caesar's, Messina's, and Loggin's characters. The last two really needed it, SPECIALLY the latter.

I rather the motion comic style like this than some dogshit "animation" in eps 15 lol

But seriously I think there's few scene in this episode that look nice, like Caesar breakout.. slideshow or not.

You're the last person I'd expect to defend it.
...why? Do you not understand the things I like and look for? I care about efficiency and good work above all, whether there is a lot of frames or movement or not. Not to mention all the praise I often give to Dezaki's work, whose style was essentially "motion comic" too.

It only irks me when tasteless, talentless hacks like the clowns at SHAFT abuse it with absolutely dreadful results.
