JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation |OT| Your next post will be... OH MY GOD!

Part 2 is pretty much the gold standard for battle series. :( It does practically everything just right.

How about parts 5-8? At least in comparison to Part 1, because I loved Phantom Blood. I also heard 7 (and 8?) is
in an alternate universe, but somehow canon?
Not sure how it works, and unfortunately, Ima have to go digging for Stone Ocean.

Yeah, but the recent Lupin anime was very unlike any Lupin before.

Yeah, but Lupin has had several anime adaptations spanning hundreds of episodes with several demographics in mind, while Jojo has had a 13 episode OVA. It's a massive manga property, but the anime could really go either way.

My opinion is:

4>3>2>6>7>1>5

8 is too new to put in the rankings, but I'm liking it a lot so far.

I'm sad that Golden Wind is bottom barrel for you... : (

I just found the characters in it REALLY boring. Which is a shame because it had some good fights. Giorno didn't do anything to make me like or dislike him, and the same goes for the rest of his crew.

And then Stardust Crusaders kills Joseph.
And Diamond Is Unbreakable pisses on his corpse.

I REALLY disagree with the first part. Joseph in part 3 is awesome. Fuckin Indiana Jonesing the shit out of stuff. Also had one of my favorite fights in the franchise (the one with the magnet lady).

As for him in part 4, well, it was sad to see him like that >_>

The main thing that allows parts 7 and 8 to be cannon is the end of part 6.

The world ends and the entire universe is restarted (Twice?), into a similar but slightly different one.

I liked part 5 a lot, but didn't care too much for 6. Part 7 was also alright, but I still think it is a weaker ones. Part 8 is just starting, and it is only now starting to make since (Chapter 14 came out recently). The first 8 or so chapters are just confusing.

I would rank them 2 > 4 > 5 > 3 > 7 > 1 > 6

Wait he gts worse? :( now I will never read part 4

Just watched the first episode. Aweeesome. Can't wait to see more fights in the upcoming episodes. All I know about JoJo is the PS1 fighting game. Also tried to read some of the manga, but I found the art a bit hard too follow, as in having difficulties to figure out what's going on. Maybe I should give the manga a try again.

Does that mean
that the universe in 1-6 is done in terms of story? And are 7/8 in the same universe? Looking at SBR on the outside, it seems like a parody world to me. Much like that .hack (I forget which one) that parodies the real one.
Pardon my ignorance.

SBR is a result of what happens in Part 6.
The end of Part 6 causes a recreation of the entire universe where there's alternate versions of previous characters, SBR takes place in this world, as does Jojolion and the last few pages of Part 6.

Was that actually confirmed though?

EDIT: Never mind, I just found a quote from Araki.

Alright, one last question so we don't pollute the place with too many spoilers:

So it's all new, with no characters/alternate with any memory of the previous world? I ask this just on the off chance that anyone tries to reverse this effect.

For now, there's been no mention of the part 1-6 world at all. However, I'm thinking there MAY be something in part 8 that relates to a certain abandoned plot point in part 4, but that's just speculation on my part (and wanting to believe Araki doesn't just forget stuff).

I would like to know what you're referring to. I only read the DUWANG translations, but what exactly went unresolved? It's very easy to forget what even happens in Jojo, lol.

The person who defeated the main villain of Part 6 is the only one that seems to remember for some reason, which I'm not sure if it has been explained. Since Jojolion takes place in the same era, hopefully it covers this in some form or another.

The person that Josuke copied his hair style from when he was younger. It was clearly foreshadowing something, possibly even a future or alternate version of Josuke. It was never mentioned again.

Well, it wasn't necessarily foreshadowing. It could also be taken as the explanation for Jôsuke's hair, and that's it.

Oh holy shit. I wonder.
I always thought it was time travelling josuke from a scrapped plot point.

Man, if he uses it in Jojolion that'd be sick.

Id only watch the 90s one if this bombs, it missed a lot of content. But if we get a 3rd season then that would be the go to version.

Too bad there'll be no way a TV adaptation of Stardust Crusaders can match the animation quality of the OVAs. Some superb stuff there. :(

EP 5 & 6 is some legendary stuff.. as expected with name like Iso,Okiura and Ando providing animation cut. Shit even Satoshi Kon make the script n such

He does. And again, it's not a separate world, it's the same one.

I was disappointed with the look of the first episode until Dio jumped out of the horse carriage. Then I was on board.

That's pretty much a semantics argument.
Same world, but different timeline with no mention of the other one? Might as well be a different world at that point.

I just don't want people thinking it's an alternate universe or they might start thinking the series is going back to Jotaro and friends. It's not a different timeline, it's just reset from the point Pucci tried to create a perfect world. It's weird, but I'm just illustrating that the events aren't concurrent in any way. 1-8 is a direct sequence.

You know, remembering unresolved plot points, there is something from the end of part 2 that I still wonder about.
Could Cars show up in future still? With him being immortal, he may have actually out lived the universe and still be out there.

Part 4 had a ton of unresolved stuff. Really felt like it was rushed to an ending.

.
I think that would be a step too bizarre even for Jojo's. It's a little bit of a stretch to presume that
he could make it back to Earth to begin with, considering his floating away from it and his epilogue made it seem like he was he was, essentially comatose floating about, so I can't see him being much of a threat even if he did.

Seriously guys, this isn't a fucking Jojo manga thread. I won't say it again. If you want to discuss that shit, there's the Manga thread. :P

Someone said there was a full episode list already for the first 26 episodes, does it indicate how long Part 1 will be?
