It's pretty well-know that a lot of poses and such in JoJo are lifted from famous album covers, movie posters, and paintings, so this was probably intentional (and it was probably lifted right out of the original manga).

Makes sense that Araki tries to put all the fabulous energy from other art forms into his manga. I also noticed how (part 4 spoiler)
Yoshikage Kira absolutely looks like David Bowie before he changes his body

That a shounen series featuring vampires and psychic powers and gore would take inspiration from fashion of all things is just... bizarre.
Well, I guess it's not so different from the author of Berserk reportedly being a huge Idolmaster fan.

Does David Production make the OP as well? I know we hate on 3d stuff in anime pretty regularly, but these OPs are honestly my favorite execution of 3d Japanese animation I've seen. I would love to see an arc of the show done entirely in that style.

Looks like the Pillar Men voice cast has been revealed:

Cars: Kazuhiko Inoue
ACDC: Keiji Fujiwara
Wham: Akio Ohtsuka (well, we knew this one...)
Santana: Kenji Nomura

Hmm, I have some trouble picturing them with those voices for some reason. I'll have to wait until I actually hear them, but I'm sure they'll be good like everyone else has been so far.

Goddamn, I want Fujiwara as Cars but he voicing AC/DC instead.. argh.

@Solar
Well the easiest to imagine are Solid Snake for Wham :D

Episode 12

Censored, edited, and removed scenes aside, this was a good episode. Animation is definitely an improvement over the first part so far, but if there's one thing that I must say that they're doing 100% right, it's the audio. The VAs are doing a great job so far, and the music never fails (dat Santana music). Seriously, no matter how many times they do the transition into
Roundabout it'll never get old.

Anyways...

Can we nominate Joseph for best waifu of the year?

Also it needs to be pointed out that Joseph is apparently going commando there >.>

Oh, and I can't be the only one amused by the coincidence of this episode airing on this specific date, can I? :P

Episode 12

That was pretty good. Battle Tendency really is the best. The Santana scenes were a lot more... disturbing than I expected. I'm glad there's actually quite a bit of motion and direction in the action compared to most of the fights in Phantom Blood. The music r0x.

Wait, so were the Joestar birthmarks always there, or did this anime just add one as fanservice? I don't remember seeing them when I read Parts 1+2, or from watching episodes 1-9.

The anime is helping Araki with the retconning of the birthmarks, in the manga there were none of those until part 3. Supposedly they also added them to Phantom Blood but I don't recall noticing them?

It was just so prominent it felt like the animators (I just about feel comfortable calling them that now) were just screaming "THIS IS IMPORTANT".

They only added the birthmark though, that scene looked the exact same in the manga (sans star obviously).

I just went back to check, and yeah, they added the star to Jonathan's back too during the Tarkus fight, although it's easy to miss.

Episode 12

I wasn't feeling this episode as much as the last two but the music at the end with the
Ripple Hair Attack
was pretty fuckin' awesome.

I'm actually really impressed with this episode, its not as fun as previous two but they really nail the mood change, this episode more like horror genre.. its feel like I'm watching Aliens, the tense moment witnessing unknown lifeform in Santana they really get it.. and yay for more animation.

Next episode gonna so cray.

Oh god, how did they handle the part with Santana where he
goes into the soldier?

That's probably the most squeamish-scene in the entire manga.

So , how long until it gets fansubbed?
It's already out, actually. (but it's probably a low quality one)

I'm in episode 7 and the transition into Roundabout is just fucking amazing every single time. God damn, I <3 it so much.
