Souls games would be closest, but not quite. Journey was magically organic the way real players would come in and out of your journey

Im amazed no dev has really carried on that concept

Although not exact the same but gave a similar multiplayer feeling to me, Death Stranding.

One of the best game ever for me. Played it several times on PS3 ans PS4.
I had to play it like 3 or 4 times to understand it was also an online game.
The best trophy is the one you get if both players sit for 30s !!! What a memorable moment !!!
