How did you get the DS to look colored/aged like that? Pretty cool.

I had no idea he got banned! He definitely wasn't part of the crew who made bets about weekly JPN sales these past couple of weeks.

Maybe there just wasn't a mod around at the time. Not surprised they didn't necessarily get banned immediately given that it was self-imposed.

Isn't that the nature of a bet?
Doug was soliciting for proof of bet posts a bit back to ban people... I didn't follow the thread to it's conclusion but maybe some proof was given and bans were administered through that?

These numbers don't mean anything, as none of the major games have been released yet. And NDS has more major releases: Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, FINAL FANTASY III. PSP has only Tales of Eternia to look forward to. It's when these games are released (And you know Pokemon alone is gonna sell over a million DS'es) that the truecontest will begin.
PSP only has Tales of Eternia.... riiiiight... See JackFrost2012's post... anyway I think most folks expect sales bumps during big name releases.... the true measure of any hardware's longevity is how it sells during the non major release time periods...

Are you assuming that the PSP will have no competing major releases during this time frame? Nothing like GT Mobile, DMC, FF7 side story, Twisted Metal, Tony Hawk, GTA, etc?

Castlevania, Metroid don't really move many unites in Japan, even Zelda is questionable there right now. Pokemon and FF still sells. Other than that it's nothing.

Very mediocrely. I skewed it with a transform, ran a smudge stroke filter on it, then added a sepia color filter to the whole layer. Doesn't look too good, but good enough for a quick-and-dirty GAF photoshop. ;)

I made the Shang Tsung one, too, which you asked about earlier.

Koei has announced today they're developing Romance of the Three Kingdoms V for PSP wichi will be out in March in Japan.

Ok Nintendo is doing really bad, can we not focus on one posters biased opinion? The PSP has the BEST software coming out soon.

Mrbob said:
There is a reason for this, and you already know the answer.

ah you mean Nintendo fanboys don't you. Well maybe we shouldn't express our opinion so all the trolling could end. It would be a good idea, really.

Ok sorry about about that. Edited my post as I wasn't thinking of all DS fans, but rather all the delusional people living in their own worlds on this forum ^^;

Oh...my...god! I need this!

There's two game series that cause me to lose track of time completly, Romance and Civilization. A handheld version of one of them?!? That will be insane!

Koei has 3 titles each for PSP and NDS

PSP
Dynasty Warriors (2004.12.16)
Majong (2004.12.22)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms V (2005.03)

NDS
Majong (2004.12.02)
Dynasty Warriors (TBD)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (TBD)

Everybody just can't seem to help going to extremes. Certainly the numbers mean something, just not as much as some people make it out to be.

If there's any naysayers I'd personally like to take to task, it's the ones who claimed that handheld game hardware wouldn't sell or would sell poorly if priced over $100. Yet, we're seeing in excess of 100k units of handheld hardware that retails for the equivalent of $150 or higher selling through each week in January in Japan. I'd like to welcome you guys who didn't think it was possible to the present day. :)

Don't worry about it, I tried some reverse psychology ;) Always work for the moment.

Games without set dates and confirmed releases mean nothing to me. The NDS's "lineup" is filled with them!

I'm sorry, you've got me, sir. Most will agree that sold-out units at BIC Cameras and Yodobashis in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Yuurakucho, and Akihabara certainly have NO bearing whatsoever on the actual availability/success/sales of a product.
Because you have no idea of how long they've been in stock or out of stock. Nor do you know how many these store ever had. You don't how many they sell. You don't know what other stores have or don't have. You're looking at a snapshot of a corner, and assuming what the rest of the room looks like.

This happens every other sales thread.
"OMG, OMG! Xbox is sold out everywhere I go. Microsoft wins!"
"We've got hundred of those. We haen't seen a PS2 in weeks. Sony am winner!"
"You're both licking frog-balls, Gamecube is sold out everywhere."

It proves nothing.

DS is available in Japan. PSP is not. This is not anecdotal evidence from a handful of stores. This is the way it is, everywhere. I was in Akihabara this afternoon - every game store had DSes and none had PSPs. More anecdotal evidence, yes, but that's what facts are: mountains of irrefutable evidence leading to a single, supported conclusion. :P

What the fuck? I have Sony claiming 100,000 units shipped a week, putting their shipped total at 900,000.

Why do people blame these threads on Nbots, when everybody is equally stupid?

Actually its pretty interesting. Sony's taking on a market thats completely dominated by another company and are actually making waves despite what some naysayers thought. It's the most interesting console battle in awhile because of that.

Sony can claim whatever number they like, that doesn't put PSPs in real stores where real people can buy them with real money. Over here in reality, PSP's unavailable!

When you put it like that.... it rings with a certain bit of familarity in relationship to the current console situation in regards to MS entrance in to that arena.... Except in terms of current generation Sony's lead on the console side isn't even close to being reachable(due to that one year lead), and here on the handheld side we've got... well how much of a launch time lead does the DS have over the PSP in Japan?

*Sigh* This DS vs PSP thing is more retarded than the console wars have ever been.

You think so?

Personally, I'm enjoying the random banning bets, and the photoshops. It's threads like this that help me get through the day :lol

It's interesting because we are about to see a shift in the handheld industry... how will Nintendo fight back? Will Sony's focus on PSP hurt the PS3? It's like a giant soap opera. And in the middle are Nfans who just can't let go. Ahh these are the days or our lives. :lol

that 100K/week was only for the last couple of weeks of 2004, Sony's only shipping 500K between Jan to Mar 2005

No doubt it's interesting from your point of view when Nintendo is down on their knees.

I don't get it. Why is the PSP software still selling a nice amount below DS's even though its kicking its butt weekly? I don't see the DS's sales going that much higher until a real killer app hits the system and not Peach Princess or anything else of that sort. RPG's, Castlevania, Zelda something. Next Holiday the PSP has a good chance to outsell and surpass the DS's total install base if this keeps up.
The difference in weekly sales isn't enough to make up for the ~800K more DS owners still buying stuff a month later when it comes to the software numbers.

EDIT: Or at least DS owners still buying Mario or Wario.

So you'd rather believe that a company is lying to you, as long as it makes that companies product appear more successful in your eyes?

Who's living in their own little world on this forum?

How can you be any more of a fool? Sony obviously never lies and never overestimates everything. Unless you can prove that there ISN'T a store somewhere deep in the rural parts of Hokkaido with 200k PSP units all stocked up and with no one buying I suggest you shut up! :lol

Yeah really, I don't understand why everyone is being so dumb today. Obviously the PSP outselling the DS for 3 weeks running means completely nothing. The clear proof that the DS is winning this war is the above mentioned store failing to sell their 200k units. Some people.... *sigh*

Did we ever clear up whether Enterbrain/Media Create numbers account for PSP sales on Sony's own site?

Also, as of last week, there was a discrepancy of almost 100K between the PSP LTD sales numbers that could be tallied from Enterbrain vs Media Create weekly sales figures.

There's obviously discrepancies here, but you seem ready to jump to unsupported conclusions as to where they lie...

Sweet now we're going to have Sony as the sole ruler of video game land!! Ironic how people wanted psp to be successful because they didnt want a monopoly in the handheld market :lol

DMC and FFVII CC won't see release until 2006. Then again, neither will Pokemon D/P most likely imo.

Most games announced for both platforms have no expected release date actually, it's hardly exclusive to DS. And Dynasty Warriors DS was confirmed to be a 2nd quarter release.

Sony's PSP helped push Nintendo to improve the handheld from 2D to 3D (NDS)
Without competitors, handheld would always be 2D world
