What is your list? Just wonderin.
Something like this, though I haven't given it a lot of thought. I'd need to rewatch some of them.

Schindler's List
Saving Private Ryan
Close Encounters
Munich
Amistad
ET
AI
Empire of the Sun
The Last Crusade
Raiders
Temple of Doom
Jaws
Jurassic Park
Minority Report
The Terminal
Catch Me If You Can
The Lost World
WotW
Hook

Stuff I haven't seen

Crystal Skull

The line about the "blood-sucking lawyer" is fantastic.

Also, great acting in the film from the main 6 people. The kids are fantastic - remember, the classic kitchen scene relies solely on their acting chops.

And The Lost World is an incredibly underrated film.

I remember reading the Jurassic Park novel way before I was old enough to really get it (I was about 11-12). It had diagrams of chaos theory in it and stuff. I'm not into novels anymore but I'd love to read that one again to see what I missed.

I was seriously obsessed with Jurassic Park when it was released, along with the other 2 movies. I LOVED the movies, and my mom can back me up 100%. :lol Waiting for these babies on Blu-Ray will definitely get a joygasm out of me.

Wow, you must hate Crystal Skull. Compared to other movies, especially the first, it's complete garbage, but as a standalone not that bad.

It's the only movie I've ever walked out off. So I haven't actually seen it all to be fair. It could have an amazing second half. That's what I mean about rewatching stuff.

This thread got me back to re-reading the book...must be the 20th time now. :lol

The Book didn't get awesome until the dinos escaped. But that's just me. When Crichton described the
T-Rex Sleeping in a tree like a dog, and then following Grant and the kids
I pictured it PERFECTLY in my head. Crichton is a master of imagery.

When i was a kid this movie was fucking amazing. Nowadays...not so much but it will always have a spot in my heart :)

Zeegoggles.gif lol. But yeah. I definitely think this is a film of two halves, and ironically believe the actual dinosaur action is the weaker of the two. The establishing of characters and ethics is very interesting and its a shame that dialogue pretty much ends completely when the T-Rex breaks out,

The kitchen with the raptors is the best scene together with the first T-rex scene.

I was like 8 or something when I saw this in the cinema. Great effects still. :)

Not sure it's a masterpiece, but it is a classic in its genre. I guess that does make it a masterpiece...carry on.

Its not even his best blockbuster, nor in the top 10 of Spielberg's filmography alone....

(in case someone asks, his best blockbuster is Jaws, and those 10 in chrono order would be Duel, Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders, ET, Empire of the Sun, Schindler, SPR, AI and Munich)

You're forgetting the Color Purple in there.

Jurassic Park is still the best looking movie I ever seen, The Dinosaurs look like they are fucking real. I love this movie a lot and it started my obsession with Dinosaurs. Jurassic Park, Michael Jackson, Sega Genesis and Batman was my childhood. And I love The Lost World and like JP3.

Oh and Solo, Jurassic Park is still an amazing movie that still holds up today IMO. Also you guys wanna know what movie I loved as a kid that I discovered was a steaming pile of shit, Batman & Robin. Yeah I know I was a dumb kid.

Watching it again now. That's how you open a movie! Totally teasing the velociraptors, and building up tension & anticipation right from the beginning like Jaws. Brilliant to actually show the accident, rather than just showing the aftermath at the island clinic from the novel.

Watch it with Rifftrax commentary. It's amazing.

I got the VHS when it came out and in the span of 2 years I watched it 18 times. I know the exact number because I remember being so proud of that fact when I was younger.

I'm really hoping someone here can help me with this, as it's been driving me crazy for well over a decade now so I'm finally confronting it with the full force of the internet...

Sometime before Jurassic Park's release, I feel like it was about a year, I remember something like a Jurassic Park pilot was aired one Saturday morning during my cartoons. I think it was on FOX while I was waiting for X-MEN.

I think it was only a half hour long, pretty sure it was just called Jurassic Park, and was a short story about a family being invited to see the park before it opened, and the kids getting lost for a short while. I only really remember two scenes, one was in this shack at night, raining I think, and the other is when some kids walked up on a raptor in the woods I believe...

So, I swear this thing exists, but I can't find a trace of it on the internet.

Google doesn't return anything, it's not mentioned in the Wikipedia page, and it's not on IMDB.

Does anyone else out there remember seeing this? I know I didn't just make it up... but as far as I can tell, it only exists in my imagination.

Still definitely one of my all time favorites and I'd be shocked if that ever changed. I don't care how much time passes or how old you grow, a fucking incredible movie is a fucking incredible movie.

I feel like my brain will melt if I can't find someone else who remembers this. I don't understand how googling "jurassic park preview pilot aired on television" doesn't return it.

Saw this in theaters when I was 12. It was the most amazing theater experience I've ever had as a child.

I was 10, and at that age, it was the scariest movie I'd ever seen. I had no internet to spoil anything, and I hadn't seen any previews. I had no idea what it was, only that there was dinosaurs in it.

When Ellie screams "Mr. Hammond I think we're back in business!" and the raptor comes out of left field, I shit so hard that it went up into my skull.

:lol

I just remember thinking that they actually created real dinosaurs for the movie. There were no visual effects shots in this movie when I was 12. It was real. The dinosaurs were fucking real and my mind was BLOWN.

And they had such amazing subtle characteristics too. One thing that stands out for me is when the raptor is trying to open the door to the kitchen. It struggles with it a bit, and makes this sound that can only be described as a human getting fed up with something and saying "GOD" out of frustration. :lol

raptor was like god open you fucking door

Hell yea. I was a freak about dinosaurs as a kid, and this movie was just ridiculously, indescribably mind-blowing when it came out because of that for me.

Definitely in my top 5 movies of all-time and I have no doubt that nostalgia is one of the main reasons for that, although the movie does still hold up pretty damn well to this day.

Chances are that it didn't exist and it was maybe a dream, or that it wasn't actually related to Jurassic Park (hence internet search turning up nothing). Was it a cartoon or live-action?

It definitely wasn't a dream and it definitely involved a park with dinosaurs... It was live action.

Gah, wish Spielberg was on twitter...

You pretty much described the actual Jurassic Park. :)

family (group of people, consisting of two kids)
before it opened
kids getting lost
shack at night (toilet T-rex scene ?)
kids & raptor (the whole restaurant chapter ?)

I suggest watching it again. Maybe it's been a while and you're confusing Jurassic Park with its sequel The Lost World ?

Spielberg defintiely had nothing to do with it and nothing from the author either. It would have been difficult to be a movie tie-in since the only thing purchased was movie rights and they paid a lot to secure that (2 million I think).

I would assume it was a copy-cat. I tried looking and the only thing pulling up is Dinosaurs the TV show.

I know the movie intimately, and it's undeniable that I saw this before it. The scenes in my head are not from the movie, and totally different actors. And I'm pretty sure the ages of the kids were reversed (and no, i'm not thinking about the book either, which I read after I saw the movie)

It could be that neither of them had anything to do with it, it seemed like a tech demo for the dinosaur tech, though I remember it not being that impressive.

I know it's hard to believe me, so if no one else remembers it, I'll just slink away and hope one day I figure it out, but I was really hoping something would pop up here.

It really seems impossible that it's not on the internet, but jeeze, can someone at least find some one-episode dinosaur show that showed on a saturday morning about kids getting lost in a dinosaur theme park?
