Good catch, although it was fairly obvious based on what you had in the listing. Sucks that this couldn't become another ppppppower book! thing like that one where the person screwed with the scammer and a forum provided ideas and tracking.
There's nothing to fear. It's like anything, if you're smart about it you can avoid any issues.
Part of my job description is managing multiple eBay stores, and the things we have listed and sell often cost in the thousands. I've been doing it for over 3 years and the times we've had people try to scam us I can count on one hand, and the times it has worked have been zero.
So apparently that ebay account that bought my phone was legit, but someone had hacked it. Got an Ebay email now. Explains why the account had good reviews.
OP, glad you averted the scam. One thing I'm confused about is how the scammer got your email address? I guess they went to pay for it and it shows your PayPal address? The ebay PM system will not show your email address.
I wonder if this is a security flaw with Ebay. It shouldn't show the person's paypal address until you have actually submitted the payment? Then there would be no way for someone to fake the email unless they buy 2 items from you and just pay for the cheapest one.
I'm not quite sure. I used them for the first time to buy an iPhone 5s and it seemed like there were minimal fees involved. Here are some links I dug up about selling through Swappa, though you probably already found them.
