The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
I'm not a fan of slowly developing shows and damn was this shit slow. I hate most of the kid actors already, that sure didn't take long... I'm interested.. but damn future eps need to move at a quicker pace...

Yeah, that episode was a whole lot of nothing. The characters were one dimensional and unlikeable. Who knows if it'll be good eventually, who knows if I'll bother to watch next week.

The commercials looked absolutely horrible and stereotypical.

"A loving brother..."

"Hey bro."

What.

It was better than Threshold, which put 'establish characters as fast as possible' in a league of it's own.

I have no real interest in watching Surface, but I do have one question. Is this another alien show? For some reason the previews make me think of merpeople or some other kind of sea creature, but everything I heard was that it's another alien invasion program.

Your avatar is the devil. I thought threshold was ok, I missed Surface but I didn't think it looked too good. We will see about Invasion tommorrow. Lost seemed to spurn a ton of sci-fi mystery types.

But it didn't seem contrived to me, which is the much bigger problem for shows. She put together people for reasons...it was too quick, but it had to be and it worked for the content of the show.

I enjoyed it. I had to aquire the show over night and I watched it today. I didn't think it was all that slow and it gave up a lot more than LOST did. I loved the tooth at the end.

IYO, I personally don't need 400 minutes of establishing the f'n characters motive.

In some ways I think they gave TOO much away. While it's refreshing that we basically know what this thing is (bizarro giant clever dangerous alien sea monster) and the various incidents that set up its characteristics were cool, the characters all have this incredible ability to instantly jump to the correct conclusion from the snatches they see.

I'm also not a big fan of the characters. Reclusive single-minded genius children are always bad, but the oceanographer mother (the crazy bitch who threatens to cut her child's teddy bear) and her kid take the biscuit as the most annoying characters this side of Joey.

Still, I might watch the next couple of eps to see how it pans out. I enjoyed the pace and the quick cuts from scene to scene, and I do like my crazy scruffy foreign scientists. It could take an interesting turn if they keep up this pace, because we'll surely find out about the monster sooner rather than later.

so basically it's:
