A few weeks ago, our store manager (surprisingly!) quit/resigned from the store (I work at Target). Just outta nowhere. The store was going through remodel and looked like shit, so when the district boss came, he was pissed. Then our store manager just quit. The disctrict boss brought some of the higher-ranking employees in and said he was gone and we were to have no further contact with him. He left for "personal reasons". End of story. That raised some eyebrows.

Since there, we heard a lot of rumors about him being an alcoholic, cheating on his wife and one weird rumor that just continued to stick -- he was a pedophile. I really couldn't believe it. I knew the guy and something like that just seemed insane.

But this rumor kept circulating. Nobody really could confirm it.

So I checked the sex offender registry today and - holy shit! - he is a pedophile. He's already on the damn inventory for some other offense and it lists him as under investigation for sexual child abuse and lists his last employer as our fuckin' store.

I can't believe how tightly wrapped Target is trying to keep this. A sex offender was the store manager for a major chain that employs dozens of minors. Now under investigation.

Crazy fucking world we live in.

I checked the local pedo registry a couple months back out of curiosity, and discovered that 3 registered offenders live in the trailer park next door to my apt. complex. No other address or block in the city has that many. Guess they like the cheap rent and the close proximity to the elementary school (4 blocks).

That doesn't make it true. Even if I didn't take norinrad literally, he's saying that it is often those close to you (what does that even mean?) and often ones that you'd never expect. While the latter CAN be true, more often than not it is people that fit the bill.

A good point would have been: "It's not always who you'd expect"

He just resorted to a cliche that does as much as sound appropriate. Like people that say "Any publicity is good publicity" in instances where it's so far from the truth.

A guy who used to come watch our soccer games when i was a teenager was registered as a paedophile and we didn't find out until much later when we heard a kid at the soccer club had been molested by him.

Anyway we always thought he was cool because he used to buy us ice-creams and such. god damn stupid teenagers we were back then. It could have been any of us.

Fucking California, and their lack of online sex offender tracking. I do know there are at least a few in my city, from word of mouth. There's even one house a couple miles from here, where the person has painted all sorts of phrases and graphics on their garage door, pointing to the person's house next door, saying things like "keep your children away", "he lurks and he jerks" and things like that. It's pretty funny to look at, but the guy next door I think is a convicted child molester. Then there is a building across the parking lot from my office, where back in the 50's or 60's, this man kept all these little boys as sex slaves in a secret room in the basement underneath this building.

Well, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, where I want to move to, seems to have one person listed, but if I search the Kootenai County, there are like 250 people listed. WTF. I wonder what the average count of sex offenders per square mile is in America.
