just go PS Underground winter demo: Is POP: warrior within supposed to suck balls?

i got this free demo in the mail. i had already played most of the games, but one game i hadn't played was prince of persia warrior within. i dont know if its the hardware, the game, or a combo of both, but man this game runs like shit. its not so much that the game itself is awful, cause i could see it being decent if it were to run at a decent framerate and be a bit smoother, but man it runs like dog shit from what i played. slowdown the entire time (even when performing routine moves), crappy effects, etc.

i never played POP on ps2/xbox, but was there that big of a difference between xbox/ps2 versions of the game? i was mildly interested in this game, and i do have an xbox also, but if this is more of a game-design problem (and not a hardware problem) i wouldn't even take this shit for free. will the xbox/gc version run at a superior level?

The demo is from E3.. so it's quite old. No slowdowns on Xbox from what I have heard.

Oh and btw, in before PoP haterz!

The only one's missing now is the green giant :P

"will the xbox/gc version run at a superior level?"

IGN said the Xbox version was superior to the PS2 one. I hope they do a head 2 head video review like with SoT. SoT played great on Xbox. Looked and played better, and had more bonus content (old PoP1 and 2).

Also, POP:WW on Xbox will be Live enabled. Check it out!

It's pretty obvious the demo is an incomplete build - there's a lot of sound missing for background effects, for example. Wouldn't be the first time a demo hasn't made the best sell for a game that ultimately turns out much better.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The PoP demo not only ran bad, but the game itself was insanely inferior to SoT. Horrible music and graphical style aside, the controls are sluggish, the combat is worse than in SoT (and I really liked the combat in SoT), and the game just feels second-rate overall.

Swinging back to the weird change in theme for a second, though... I knew that they were going towards a more "generic gothy" thing, and was prepared for it, but I didn't realize exactly how bad it actually would be. The music not only doesn't fit, but it's just loud and grating. The whole thing just feels like a bunch of kids trying way too hard to be "cool", and just looking pathetic.

The really sad thing is that I've been pretty disappointed by practically every demo on the disc so far. I still haven't played one or two of them (and a few have only gotten a few minutes of playtime), but there isn't a single one yet that's convinced me to go out and pick up the game.
