In the background, the projector clicked loudly. In the foreground, a man gets pushed away by a girl he's trying to get with, and he leaves. Somewhere between that float the particles that hit the screen, bounce back, and hit you square in the jaw.

Until this movie, I never realized the scope of some things. I never really remembered much about MacNamara other than a footnote of his position during Vietnam. I never thought this'd be something that would affect me.

...but then, I've violated his tenth rule time after time.

Now, I'm not good at long posts, so I'll condense this for both your and my sake. First off, seeing a man of his brilliance talk about his life as if it were his greatest accomplishment, and his worst crime...Every word he spoke, he had a look, a feel of regret to him. He saw it all, did it all. But in the end...well, you know how it goes.

The point is that this is a powerful film. Even the greatest of all time can be wrong. Even the most egotistical can have regret.

Watch it. You'll know what I mean.

and the most important thing which i hope the bush admin takes away from this. KNOW YOUR ENEMY!! you dont have to like them or sympathise with them. undestand their motives. understand how they think. that's why vieetnam was lost. and iraq coudl follow in the same path.

I watched this a few days ago, too. As always (well, for 3 years), I responded in 195 characters or less.

Fog of War
Jumps around a lot and chops his dialogue together, but a very interesting documentary on an auto-exec-turned-Secretary-of-Defense and what he's learned over the years.

Tell your prose to breathe. It's turning purple.

You should watch Hearts and Minds, because I believe (IIRC) that it also has MacNamara and his positions at the time.

It is pretty powerful and gives a frame of reference for this film (which I have yet to see)
