I don't mind stupid songs, but even those have their own type of "substance" and set out to achieve something specifically. Lana Del Rey is trying to be so many things she will never be.

Oh, well in that case I agree. Video Games is a completely uneventful song that doesn't do much in it's 4:42 timespan. I am baffled that it's the song that kickstarted her career when she has far more worthy songs in her catalog (Off to the Races and National Anthem).

I can see you not liking her music or saying it is not your cup of tea but really... asking that question? It's obvious that a lot of people like her music. She writes it, edits her videos (well, when it is a big single she writes its treatment/story) and has an unusual voice. Plus she's an angel to her fans and has a very nice personality.

You can remain bothered at her success tho.

I appreciate the work she puts into her content, but she still seems so fake. I'll refrain posting more about her, because I really don't know much more to expand.

I did say I like her voice though.

are you guys really arguing over whose 'realer' between 2 equally, carefully manufactured and calculated, major record label creations?

Yes, but it was released and written by by Eminem.

no one would give a damn about the song if not for rihallah's iconic chorus.

It would have been forgotten, much like the rest of Eminem's not-so varied discography of angry straight white male rants.

And Rihanna sung on it. There are a ton of great songs that weren't written by the artist but still highly regarded. We don't say "Thriller" isn't Michael's song since he didn't write it.

LTWYL is as much Rihanna's as Eminem's. The previous point stands.

This change is frankly bullshit. There's a very well-known well documented effort to systematically rig and fake inflate streaming numbers. Incorporating such a non-audited measure into charts is pathetic and primarily a move by large record labels leveraging the VEVO oligopoly to crush independent artists and pretend music sales erosion isn't happening. Know that every single top single number from now as long as this policy exists will be inaccurate.

Man Usher has to have made millions off of this kid. Same with Akon making bank for bringing on Lady Gaga. Goddamn those two nailed it with Bieber and Gaga, I wonder if either of them will even release solo albums anymore or just coast off of their discovered artists.
