Been reading low quality scans on my iPad (gonna buy the first 4 volumes when I have the money!) and I like it, but its pretty similar to the show.

I was thinking about getting the manga some time too. I like the smell of printed books.
I started reading the K-on manga, but I never got into it, probably because it's music themed. 4-panel comics work so much better for mindless stuff like Azumanga Daioh.

Not the first 4-koma anime, but one of the best.
Arguably pre-dates moe, or at least the moe we're routinely exposed to nowadays. At the very least a purer form of cuteness.
