Kameo already climbing charts

My question...

Why the hell did they map transformations to buttons that are traditionally for actions? I would have prefered they mapped them to the directional pad, and let you use multiple buttons for greater depth when it comes to manipulation/actions.

Kameo's greatest problem, pre-release, comes from marketability. It's such a schizophrenic title that it really doesn't fit in a single genre. Listen to Microsoft Game Studios trying to sell Gametrailers' visitors on Kameo, and how much they struggle with it:

What would possess somebody to waste time and gas to go buy a game that you cannot play knowing that you're going to have to go back two weeks later to the same place to pick up the system that said game requires for play?

I loved the demo. I've beaten it four times at work and think it will be the best Xbox 360 game at launch. I just don't think Rare will hit the same home run with PD0. I think it will turn out to be a good game but not Triple AAA material which will mean it be laughed at and unfairly called "bad" due to its overhype.

The only way to sell Kameo is to SHOW the game ! How difficult would it be to have some gameplay sequences of the game that would "interrupt" the demo so people don't think it's just a boring dungeon crawler/platformer. It's like MS does not want to sell that game at all !
Show some army fights, some beautiful levels, not that awful thorn's castle ! MORONS !

They probably wanted to simplify the game. One action button plus it's much easier to push a button than to manipulate the d-pad.

The demo sucked. I expect the full game will be much better.

However, I was pretty much underwhelmed by my 360 experience (25 minutes at Best Buy). I won't judge an entire system based on a 25 minute demo-playing session, but, as it stands, there was just nothing that exciting on display: No new gameplay ideas, no immeiately noticable improvements over current standard gameplay. The graphical upgrade over XBox1 is obvious, but not jaw-droppingly impressive.

So far, I don't see XBox360 justifying its cost at launch. Like any system, it's library and the quality of its games will flourish over time. But I have every reason in the world to wait and see when it comes to this system.

Wrong on both accounts. I work across the street from EB. :lol

The real what? is why people feel the need to critique the purchase plans of others.

What threads do I troll in? I rarely troll. wtf.

To be fair, although Himuro's post this time was ahem, negative, he's no serial troller. Cept in off topic booty posts. And I approve of those.

It's normal; same thing happened with the XBox, PS2 and DC launch (not sure about GC, but probably).
IIRC, you could get certain GC games at least a few days ahead of the system's launch, such as Rogue Squadron II and Super Monkey Ball. Nothing new here with the 360, although it does seem on the earlier side compared to some other system launches.

I've got to say...if PD0 is "good" then I would consider it a victory given the general thrashing it's gotten on gaf (from myself included).

You are incorrect as he is a Sexy Beast. :D
So we've got the ability to play a well endowed woman and the ability to turn into a gruff male furry loving beast.

Why aren't the Japanese jumping all over this?

Judging from the demo, Kameo is pretty fun...better than the collectathons we've been thrown for so many years, at least.

One thing bothers me, tho, everything's mapped to the triggers, with the face buttons being used to change between forms. It's really simplistic, dunno if I like it.

Okay, so I'm not alone. This move set feels like it was made for the N64 controller.

You can belittle almost every game in that manner.

Bah, plumber with a water pack strapped to his back taking out mushrooms and crawlly things with spiky backs.

Except in that instance, the criticism was valid. ;)

I for one can't wait to play this game :)

And I do agree, Kameo's sister is hot. (much more well endowed than Kameo;) )

A demo might not 100% reflect on a given finished product, but I think it's enough to get a general idea.

Like when I played the Sudeki demo and knew the final would be terrible ass.

or like Forza?

Your all idiots if you decide a games quality based on a demo, especially with a game like Kameo where much of its gameplay revolves around exploration and experimenting withl creatures.

Here's hoping it sells in the millions (if it scores well) just so we get a sequel.

It already appears we get a movie out of the deal as well. I dunno about anyone else but 2 Rare games for a system launch that both look fantastic is well worth them dicking around on Conker for the past 5-6 years.

Gamespot is gonna hammer this game :lol

Damage control? Im looking at this game and Im thinking 'Wow, the game seems very slow and sluggish'. I will be very surprised if it scores anything above 9 anywhere(anywhere but OXM and IGN that is).

Never mind...

I'll just say I'm astounded at what a terrible job MS has done of marketing this game. I STILL don't even know what the gist of the gameplay is.

Both Rare games will score in th 9s. Quote me on that

Nfans will continue to hate though, for great justice the game should sell in the millions and put Rare's good name back on the map

Here's hoping

At this point, they damn well better deliver. They haven't shown me anything to WOW me yet since they moved to MS.

Starfox Adventures was OK too, it was no GoldenEye.
